Positive: This was our only stay at a ryokan and it did not disappoint! So peaceful and beautiful. Our room was comfortable and having a private onsen was such a luxury. The staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Truly a special experience. Having bikes available was also great. We did not have the traditional breakfast, but were able to find pastries and fruit in the shops nearby.

Negative: Nothing!

Summary: Beautiful stay in a traditional ryokan.

Positive: A magical stay, waking up to the beautiful snowy forest views was something out of a movie! The staff were amazing and the sweetest! The town is small but we still loved the vibe of it. We had the best time staying here and would recommend to anyone!

Negative: If you don’t book your diner and breakfast at least 5 days before your arrival, then you will have no diner and breakfast in the hotel and you will have to go out. This hotel is located in a tiny city so you have barely no choice. The hotel explained that we need to book 5 days in advance as they only use fresh food I understand that this is the rule of the hotel but: - My expectation is that the hotel should have a plan B for guests who did not book the diner 5 days in advance (even if it is not fresh food) - the communication to explain the rule before our arrival was rather poor I believe that providing food is part of the service expected in a hotel and no food could be provided to us.

Positive: The room is beautiful and clean. Having a private onsen makes everything special.

Negative: The staff barely speaks English. It’s hard to make the experience authentic if they are not able to explain you things properly. The check-in experience was meh. No one was at the reception so I had to wait for someone to come and give me the keys after travelling for hours. I would say this is ok for an average mid price accomodation, but given that is rather expensive for one night I would expect an excellent service. Overall I think that this place is rather overpriced.
