Positive: Traditional Ryokan in a quiet and beautiful thermal location. Very nice open air onsen available for guests. The staff did not speak very good English, but they were really nice and tried their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. For a little extra they prepared us a kaiseki dinner, absolutely delicious!

Negative: The room was very clean, but we found some stink bugs in the room; not sure where they came from. And the indoor pool onsen (female) could be cleaner.

Positive: The staff were nice and helpful from the start, I ask some information before coming. The moment we arrived, the manager ask me a follow up about our previous conversation. They were very nice, and took time to explain us everything about our stay. The ryokan is a bit old but very well kept, the amenities are clean and easy to use. The beddings are very comfortable. This place is remote, but that's why you're here. We went to see Kamikochi during the day and arrived in the late afternoon. Accesible by bus. The village is quite small, a shop open early in the morning, and the izakaya down the road very good and friendly.
