Summary: The hosts are very kind and considerate and we had a nice stay in a traditional Japanese style room with very authentic Japanese meals for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is perhaps a little dated but it added to the charm and it is very clean. We didn’t get to try the outdoor onsen as we had hoped as we were put off but a large spider other guests alerted us to. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay.

Summary: Super!!! Everyrhings OK...Execept outside ryogan. Outside bathtob was closed. However, great experience and nice meals. Thanks.

Summary: Nice location and beautiful surroundings. Ryokan has definitely seen better days and is need of refurbishing. Still staff is friendly and helpful. Meal is traditional so may not be for everyone. The onsens also look dated and can be brighter.

Summary: We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there and back took a lot of time though, so our 1-day trip seemed a bit too short.

Summary: Lovely rooms and in-site onsen (both public and private). Great quiet location; convenient to get to and from. Has a lovely dinner and an Izakaya nearby.

Summary: The host family is extremely kind and friendly. They prepared delicious meals in accordance with our dietary preferences. It was a pleasant, restful place to stay while we explored the beauties of the Kamikochi region. We greatly enjoyed our stay!

Summary: Staff was very helpful in planning my trips each morning, asking where I was planning to go and then helping me find the right bus to take. The night of my arrival as I walked pass the ryokan they called out to me so I would not remain lost.

Summary: The hosts and staff made this a particularly pleasant and unique stay. They were very attentive and helpful. A delicious Traditional Japanese Dinner and breakfast were served to us in a private room. There are public and private bathhouse options- all of which were very clean, comfortable, and relaxing!

Summary: The service and attention to details were top notch. The owner/manager was very helpful and with his help we were able to go to Kamikochi by public transportation even though it was closed. We really wanted to do this so his help was much appreciated. We did not have breakfast but the dinner was very good and served by these nice attentive ladies which we really enjoyed. The ryokan is more traditional which worked for us in the remote mountains. The view from the spacious lobby area was very pretty.
