Positive: The shared facilities such as the onsen, the garden, the massage chair are all very nice, and the amenities offered are good, especially the Japanese pyjamas & yukata to wear. The free ramen at 10pm is a nice touch too. It's easy to get to Kamikochi in the morning.

Negative: This was one of the most expensive nights of my stay in Japan, which is understandable as it is a hotel in a premium location with onsen facilities. But it was disappointing to find that the room had tired-looking furniture & decoration. It was clean though

Positive: The baths were incredible, really well maintained and were beautiful, especially surrounded by snow and the mountains

Negative: The actual rooms were very dated, it felt like a hotel past it's prime. As a result I felt the 5 star rating and price of the hotel to be misleading.
