Positive: The old couple that runs the guesthouse are great people. Little English but Google Translate helps. They will even explain how to eat the Japanese dishes. The rooms are cozy, the onsen is very nice (although a bit hot at times) and the Guesthouse is very close to the Sawado bus terminal. The surrounding area is beautiful and Kamikochi is half an hour by bus. All in all a great experience.

Positive: The guesthouse was in a great location, right by the Sawando bus terminal and the foot onsen, as well as a couple of local hiking trails. The hosts were kind and helpful, and even shared some postcards with us. We stayed in a triple room, which was a bit dusty but very comfortable overall. The outdoor onsen (available to use at any time) was really nice and very hot! While there weren't any restaurants or stores open in the area in the off season (we were there in mid-April), there was a convenience store in the guesthouse with snacks, cup noodles, and drinks. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a good value stay with easy access to Kamikochi!

Positive: Great hot onsen on property traditional tatami floors in rooms

Negative: These sort of places have thin walls so you’re able to hear anybody banging around closing doors. There was a lot of ruckus when I was there. also extremely isolated not the best place to be without a vehicle. No food around the area in is attached to convenience store by hosts maybe if it was skiing season and I had somewhere to be then perhaps it would be a better place to crash
