Positive: The most lovely hosts, the greatest food, prepared directly from the heart, cozy rooms, great private Onsen ( there is two of them). We loved everything about our stay, especially the kind and welcoming personalities of the owners. The Location is also beautiful for hiking and Kamikochi is near.

Positive: Our stay at Poetical was truly special and deeply rooted in local charm. The family who owns and runs the property were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel immediately at home. Each evening and morning we were treated to beautifully prepared 4 - 5 course homemade gourmet meals - thoughtful, comforting, and delicious, and clearly made with care and pride. The onsite natural onsen bath was a highlight, always available and perfect after a day on the slopes. Evenings by the cozy fireplace, playing games with the kids, made the experience feel relaxed and intimate. With easy access to the slopes and the dining options of Norikura, Poetical struck a rare balance between comfort, authenticity, and convenience. We would gladly return.

Negative: Just be sure to have snow tires. Norikura typically fares better than Matsumoto City, as snowfall is common and roads are cleared quickly. That said, there is a relatively steep slope leading up to the pension, so snow tires and ideally all-wheel drive will help you feel confident in winter conditions.

Positive: Breakfast was amazing, the hosts were so sweet, the onsens were so lovely- there are two private onsen rooms, each with one indoor and one outdoor onsen. It was amazing to sit in a hot onsen in the snowy outdoors. They picked us up from the bus stop too, even with short notice and at night.

Positive: Incredible natural mineral onsens which you could enjoy in private. Location is very peaceful and scenic surrounded by ski hills if you visit during the season. The family who owns and runs the B&B are some of the kindest people we have met during our entire trip in Japan and are amazing cooks who were able to accommodate our vegan diet with incredible Japanese style breakfasts and dinners which were all delicious. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice peaceful stay, and hope to return someday.
