Positive: Beautiful place with amazing onsen. Food was great and staff were friendly and kind. Remote location is very peaceful. The most authentic place we stayed in on our trip

Positive: The setting of this ryokan is perfect! The quality craftsmanship of the buildings, inside and outside is impeccable. The atmosphere, the privacy and the pure serenity of our one night stay felt like 2 or 3 days as far as relaxation. Sitting in the outdoor bath, listening to nothing but the sound of river under the stars is good for the soul. The meals were amazing!!! There isn't much detail about your meals when you book, but you will not be disappointed, and you will certainly be full. Some people have criticized that the service of the meals is disappointing. With the Covid-19 protocols, the regular ryokan service isn't possible so I think people should take this into consideration when traveling or criticizing service. The room is all tatami, and the rooms have a soothing smell of wood, tatami, and the occasional smell of the onsen water. The dining table is above a sunken floor. This is a huge plus for me as a foreigner, who cannot sit comfortably on the floor to eat. The futons were very thick (10cm/4inch) at least thick and the bedding was extremely comfortable. This ryokan is very privacy oriented and the only time I encountered or even heard other guests was around check out time. They appeared to be fully booked at the time of our stay, judging by the number of cars in the parking lot.

Negative: There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the property. Personally, I can't get a good night's sleep on a futon. They do have 2 suites with western beds, but they were booked at the time we made our reservations. The only other criticism I have is that the price of the stay should be a little lower due to the lacking of regular ryokan meal service.
