Positive: Good location. Small cozy guesthouse - typical rural Japanese style and setting,

Negative: Kitchen needs a working microwave. Otherwise it is typical of what expects in rural Japan

Summary: Great for the Kumano. Be sure to go the little shops before they close.

Positive: Situated directly across the road from the river and a short walk to the local supermarket. The beds upstairs were very comfortable and you can hear the birds (Hawks?) flying near the water. We walked in whilst hiking the Kumano Kodo trail. Make sure you swim in the river if you've hiked in. The supermarket just down the road is amazing!

Summary: Really enjoyed our night here. It's a comfortable place to stay with very comfortable beds upstairs.

Positive: It was great having the whole place to ourselves. We loved the heater under the table, it was lovely and cosy. Our host was very friendly and helpful.

Negative: The bathroom was pretty basic with nowhere to get changed unless you stood in the kitchen area. Although it was great to have a compost toilet the method to 'flush' it was pretty laborious and noisy, (pulling a handle backwards and forwards 20 times). Not very discreet!

Positive: Perfect location at the Kohechi trail. Enough space for the seven of us. Good supermarket nearby. Friendly owner.

Negative: Only 1 toilet and bathroom, both rather archaic.
