Positive: We booked a different hotel, but the owner didn't show up. Luckily immediately this family accepted our request to stay in their homestay. It was cozy, you share the bathroom with the other people and it's a bit noisy, but overall very okay and welcoming. The room had everything it needed for a nice stay.

Summary: Very nice for a quick stay in Colombo.

Positive: We got a warm welcome and the host gave us a lot of useful information. The location is great (surrounded by restaurants & supermarkets, near the direct bus to the center). The host provided water, coffee and tea.

Negative: The room wasn't exactly clean, the furniture was worn out, the bedclothes had stains and there was a molding smell in the room.
