Positive: IGN Residence is a hidden gem, in the centre of Colombo, very close to shopping (Barefoot) and restaurants, such as the Gallery Cafe. I had my own apartment on the ground floor, with bedroom, bathroom, dining area (where I also worked), and kitchen. The whole place is beautifully decorated, with great style and charm. Ignatius the host is very welcoming, a real gentlemen, happy to share stories of his life and work in Europe and travels around the world. The breakfast in the morning (fruit, cake, tea / coffee and chocolates!) was delicious and beautifully presented.

Positive: Ignatious was a wonderful host, he was extremely helpful and really made a difference to my trip, from helping find a reliable taxi to recommending great places to eat and drink nearby. His suggestions were excellent and helped me find what I was looking for. He made sure I felt welcome and looked after throughout my stay. His home offers a calm and comfy shelter from the loud city of Colombo, which made it a perfect place to relax after a busy day out.

Positive: This is the nicest place I have stayed in South Asia. Impeccably clean, pleasant and comfortable, with well thought-out, European-inspired design. It’s more like an Airbnb than a typical hotel, and Ignatius is the most welcoming host you’re likely to find. If you’re not sure what you want to do while you’re in Sri Lanka, Ignatius can advise you on cities, hotels, and even specific restaurants; he’s a wealth of knowledge and a rare soul. You won’t find a better or more unique place to stay.

Positive: So, finally, we came back. And we are so happy to be back here after experiencing not so great hotels during our whole trip. Even in 5 stars hotels, there was always something wrong. But here, at IGN residence, it was absolutely perfect with nothing to complain about. All my congratulations to Mr. Joseph. House is big, bed are comfortable, close to everything and an owner always so helpful. And when I come back to Colombo, for sure I will come back here. Last tip to everyone: In case you booked guide/trip/driver... from Europe. I really recommend you all to ask first to Ignatious if prices are reasonable and trip well organised. He will tell you the truth. Neer hesitate to follow his advice or to ask him some support for anything, he will do it with great pleasure at the fairest price possible

Positive: First of all, a huge thanks to Mr. Joseph for his warm welcome, his help and his kindness. I am sleeping 120 nights per year in hotels and I have to say it is very rare to have such high quality even in 5 stars hotels I will come back here on my way back. Room is already booked.

Positive: We were enchanted as soon as we arrived! Ignatious was a splendid host and we felt immediately at home. So refreshing after many nights in soulless hotels. Beautiful furniture, very tasteful in every way with fresh flowers adding a final touch

Positive: Truly a hidden gem in Colombo! We stumbled upon this spot by accident, and what a happy coincidence it was. The experience is more like a cozy Airbnb than a standard hotel. The rooms are clean with all the basic amenities, and there is a kitchen where you can prepare meals. The location is excellent—every major café and tourist attraction is just a quick TukTuk ride away. The host, Ignatius Joseph, is amazing. You can tell he has put a lot of thought into the house, which features beautiful colonial-style decor. He was always available to help and shared fantastic tips on local cafes. It was a pleasure meeting him. Tip: I highly recommend booking directly with him! 10/10
