Positive: The owner is so kind, so helpful and so worried about us. She’s really amazing made us feel in home and made our stay perfect! The property is near the station so is 30 minutes walking until the Onsen village but she arrange us free shuttle to the village and to the snow monkey mountain which was so nice!

Negative: It’s not the most modern property but is more than perfect for us :)

Positive: woweeeee. Had a real RYOKAN tatami mat experience --- and one the best night's sleep ever! Great friendly staff. We brought 2 persimmons as a gift and they were delighted to reciprocate with 2 apples! how fun. the room was amazing, with real kimonos to wear and a low table - just what you'd expected/hoped for as a tourist. Plus flat-screen TV, heater, green tea set, fabulous warm comforters...

Negative: there's a distinct Sulphur smell from the hot springs that kind of yucky... however, they have a plastic lid over the shower drain so that keeps the smell down - plus, close the door.

Summary: want a Ryokan experience without some of the 'traditional' worries/hassle - here's the spot!

Positive: It was great to experience a tradition japanese accomodation, and it was very clean and comfy. The staff didn't speak English but we managed to communicate via translation. They served a vegetarian breakfast, that was good, but contaibing eggs, despite we have said that we were vegans. Because they didn't have many guests, they allowed to use the hot spring as a couple, what was also very nice.

Negative: We got lost in translation, or they the staff don't have proper knowledge about veganism, but their attempt to help us was appreciated.

Positive: We loved our stay at Rakki Onsen! The location is about a 2 minute walk from the Yudanaka train station (which had the most amazing restaurant called Goen). The hotel was simple but very comfortable, clean and accommodating. The hotel owner made sure we had everything we needed and is the absolute sweetest person. Her joy is contagious. She drove us to the snow monkey entrance (which saved a pretty good walk from the bus station) and provided a huge breakfast each morning. We had the onsen to ourselves each time we used it. It closes from 9am-3pm for cleaning so I would use it at 7am and again before and after dinner.

Negative: We liked everything!

Summary: We loved our visit to the Snow Monkey town!
