Positive: Amazing ryokan in the hearth of the old onsen town. Staff super attentive, food quality and presentation over the top, been travelling many times to Japan this is one of the best places I stayed I recommend the private room with private bathroom it’s huge and comfortable.

Positive: If there was only one word; Extraordinary. The staff were amazing! The whole experience was just out of this world fantastic from the start. A bit unique, the Ryokan experience, but wish we could have stayed longer. We opted for the breakfast option and it was just perfect. We booked the room with the private onsen room which the whole family appreciated. Any visit to Japan is not complete with this kind of experience and hospitality. As a hospitality professional, it was second to none. The most amazing thing was when we were leaving, the host was there waving goodbye until they couldn’t see us anymore. That just made my family and I feel truly appreciated.

Negative: Everything. Just book it. The staff were the highlight, but the whole experience was worth it.

Summary: There is only one thing to say…. Perfect!

Positive: Comfortable ryokan with great onsen. The staff is great and very friendly. We had dinner and breakfast included in our rate. Dinner was classic multi-course ryokan fare and quite tasty. The rooms are a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. The public onsens were nice with 2 outdoor onsens to enjoy at rotating times. They offer a daily shuttle to the snow monkey park and shuttles to the train station. Additionally, they were able to transport our luggage to storage area near the train station, so we did not have to return to the ryokan after visiting the snow monkeys.

Positive: Very good breakfast and kaiseki dinner! Onsen can be considered private as I rarely see people using the facilities. Very convenient to shuttle to Shiga Kogen for snowboarding as well!

Negative: No drying room for snowboards and ski equipment, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be a hotel for avid snowboarders.
