Positive: Staying at this farm is a very special experience. Surrounded by nature and friendly people. Basic and very different from the typical luxury resort that, as a Western tourist, you generally end up staying in. It took me a while to adjust (I'm not used to being so close to the jungle), but once I did it was beautiful.

Negative: This is not a luxury resort (nor does it aspire to be). So make sure you understand what you sign up for! Don't expect air-conditioning or cold beers. Do expect limited facilities, spiders, frogs, lizards, snakes, and large bugs. (But nothing dangerous–just intimidating.) Do expect a raw experience in beautiful surroundings.

Positive: The location is very peaceful. There is a small lake adajacent to the hut we slept in, but otherwise there isn't much of a view from another angle. There are three beds in the hut we stayed in, which would be nice for groups, but they weren't made up the same and there was only 3 pillows in total. The mattresses also differ wildly, with one being extremely bouncy and soft and the others being very hard. The kitchen is somewhat stocked with cutlery and dishes, a kettle and a few other things. It would be adequate if you brought a little bag of ingredients. Definitely do that as there are few shops around, and only mini-marts based out the back of nearby homes, and so they really only sell snacks and drinks. We were able to order a breakfast, which was rice noodles and beef. It was clearly fresh and it tasted great, though it did cost an additional 35k a bowl. This is of course fine, but I had expected a little more value for money as their wasn't much in terms of toilettries and coffee-tea sachets. He did boil a big jug of water ready for us, though! Bathroom is nicely done, though there's about 3-5 minutes of hot water only, so if you are going as a group, you may want to space out the showering, or put the cold-lovers at the back of the queue!

Negative: I'm sure it is a fantastically peaceful place at the right time, but there was construction going on in the early morning when we were there, both from the owners of the property and a neighbour. It seems a little unprofessional to be doing that when you've got guests. They also sang karaoke in the evening. Personally, we enjoyed this because it gave a nice soundtrack to our card games, but if you were expecting the sounds of nature, you would have been annoyed at this. Otherwise, there were a few small things which really should have been prepared better. We had to ask for towels, and there weren't any drinks in the fridge. I'm not expecting complimentary stuff, but they should think about a few creature comforts ahead of time. It seemed to me that perhaps no one had stayed their for a while, and they hadn't taken the time to set everything up as it should be. You should also be aware that some reviews that mention herbal baths and making fires for guests are not reflective of our experience. Although I put this in our notes 4-5 days in advance, the guy there was clueless when we mentioned it. I'm pretty sure he hadn't even read our extra instructions. I think this location would benefit hugely from a few extra facilities like that, but as we aren't in peak tourist season, perhaps they've put a pause of those things.

Summary: Potentially beautiful, but this time a little disappointing.

Positive: Nice peaceful place. The owner and staff are all very kind and helpful. The location is excellent, it is only 8 minutes drive from Truc Lam Bach Ma Monastery and close to Bach Ma National Park (which is beautiful!).

Negative: The neighbours play loud music which you can hear from the farmstay. Luckily they turned off the music around 11pm.

Positive: The whole experience was so authentic, down to earth and so much nature which is exactly what we were craving for! Everyone was very welcoming and helped us organise some great tours to the National Park and Sunrise Fishing. We are usually not such a huge fan of tours but this one was fantastic - it felt real and grounded and you get to see the real nature of the area. The home cooked meal was so delicious also - it felt like I was staying with family friends!

Positive: The owner is a wonderful human being, who has so much love for the property, for eco-tourism, and is just a delightful person to talk to. Also, he is a good cook! The Farm Stay is a deep dive into Vietnamese culture, where you will eat, drink, and live like a local person. There is a bicycle you can ride around the area. No traffic, no tourists, just gorgeous country roads. I loved it! But if you need all the comforts of a fancy hotel, it is not the place for you.

Negative: My room had some wasps and spiders in it so it could have been cleaner. Also my pillow was a bit small and hard. But the bed had a good mosquito net so the insects did not disturb me too much.

Summary: So grateful for this chance to learn about a different way of living in the beauty of rural Vietnam.
