Positive: The location was nice, and the carpark put back was convenient. Felt very traditional, which was really nice to experience. The access to the rooms was made very easy with the touch pad lock system. Very close to the monkeys, right across the road from a temple, within walking distance of the onsens, and heaps of food options around.

Negative: I think tattami mats and futons aren't for us. We tried out backs hurt. But that is on us, and we didn't take any points away for that - just be mindful. The back door didn't have a lock on it, so anyone could come inside the building at any time, that didn't quite sit right with me.

Summary: Great stay, little run down, but nice spot to be.

Positive: Great location and awesome staff that were super friendly!

Negative: The heater in the room only stays on for 3 hours before you need to reset it and it gets very cold when it goes off in the middle of the night.

Positive: We stayed in traditional japanese style room with tatami mats on the floor. The room was very spacious, had closet for futons, but we used it also as closet to store our things. In the room we had small table with pillows, so it was also convenient to eat there. It's very close by Yamanouchi train station and few restaurants are also around. If you're around, dont forget to visit onsen (also allowed with small tatooes) which is attached to the train station.

Negative: Bathroom could be a little bit more clean and also the main hall could use some renovation. But it's and old building so it has its magic ;-)
