Positive: We have been going to the Wheatley Arms Hotel for a few years ,and this was the best visit yet, The room we had was number 3,it was airy with plenty of room , quiet and very comfortable, very clean and tidy,the bathroom was spot on the again very clean and tidy , The team that looks after the cleaning of the rooms,do a great job Thank you Wheatley Arms Hotel we shall return.

Negative: The breakfast was fine,but it needs a bit of guidance eg the tea and coffee making equipment ,we are to help ourselves , which we were unaware of the procedure where before it was brought to us , We were offered toast which was served under our poached eggs ,but not on the side which is the norm again it's just fine tuning . Again No Drambuie!!!!!!!

Positive: Convenient (annual Christmas Dinner venue). Room has been refurbished to a high standard by new owners (I’ve been staying most Decembers for a decade or so). Good breakfast choices (too many, actually!)

Negative: I really didn’t like being notified by my bank that the room had been charged to my card whilst I was still walking up the stairs, with my bags. I know it’s often the way, these days, but I don’t like this idea of being charged for a room on the way in, rather than when you leave. – I hadn’t even inspected and approved the room, at that point. (I’ve never had this at the venue before; since I’ve been coming nearly every December over the last decade, I’m unlikely to ‘do a runner’.) The room was cold, and it was a wet, miserable day. I noticed the radiator have been partly turned down, and I open the valve fully, but it made no difference, which was disappointing. (Normally, when I’m stopping in a hotel, the first thing I do tends to be turning the heating DOWN, as I generally find them too warm.) Despite the recent renovation, the shower was pretty pathetic. I simply couldn’t get any hot water out of it! Luke-warm, at best. The breakfast staff-member was inattentive, and I had to ask for everything my. In her defence, she seemed to be on her own, and there were many guests. (Some more staff?) I couldn’t get a list of my charged drinks, when checking out, which is very poor (and I’m sure I used to be able to). Since you don’t have a ‘sign for it’ system, I do like to check that the drinks I am paying for were actually mine! These things are open to abuse , as I’m sure you know. The girl who checked me out (who had been a brilliant waitress, the evening before, by the way) was unable to find more than two of my actual drinks. To be fair to her, she did offer to just let me pay for those, since she couldn’t trace the others, but I did pay for the full bill, as it wasn’t unreasonable. I really do think, though, that guests you’ll be able to see their list, when checking out, and it should be as simple as pressing a button for the staff. I might just add that I have never found it necessary to write this much on any of my previous stays.

Positive: Good bathroom. Clean. Pub well furnished.

Negative: Stayed over after visiting the Turner Prize exhibition in Bradford. Didn’t quite get the relaxing stay we’d hoped for. Food decent not a very good vegetarian selection. There was noisy function which spilled into the bar area - disturbed our evening meal and made it difficult to think about having a drink after dinner in the bar. The function seemed to go on all day/evening. We could hear quite a bit of music from the bar in our room. There was also a broken blind which we couldn’t open. Surrounding area more built up than the photos suggest. Staff worked hard in the circumstances and pleasant throughout. Chef called in sick the next day so we left without breakfast-no cooked food and the cold options extremely limited. £28 refunded for breakfast. Booked a king room for a relaxing night stay for over £160. Dinner obviously additional. Expected a little bit more. Felt more 3 star than 4.

Positive: Lovely room, great bar area and enjoyed breakfast. The staff were amazing. My car got stuck in the car park with the ice and snow and they did everything they could to help us out, even offering us bacon butties and tea and coffee after we’d checked out!

Negative: The shower didn’t get hot enough, either at night or in the morning.
