Positive: I can only give my best recommendations for The Traveller. I loved the room, the vibe, the view and the facilities. Located in the skirts of Kandy, it is easy to get around with tuktuk, motorbike or car. Harshana is a wonderful host and made my stay unforgettable. I am happy to have found my Sri Lankan brother :) This has been my favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka.

Negative: I have no complaints.

Summary: Beautiful place, super facilities, awesome host, highly recommend!

Positive: Beautiful house and room a little outside the city center. Harshana paid attention to every detail designing this house. The views with river, the church and nature is super nice. The private cook is a nice local lady cooking amazing local dishes adjusted to your likes and dislikes for very little money. In the evening the house is very quiet. Great value for money. At last but least is Harshana a very open minded, helpful and talkative host.

Negative: Nothing that we didn’t like, you should be aware though that you do need a ride to get to the city center. It’s not a problem at all with a tuktuk or taxi.

Positive: Carefully considered and curated property. Large spacious room with killer views.

Negative: As mentioned a little further out and up a hill. All manageable. And even got some great pickme (like Uber Eats app) delivered takeaway.

Positive: I spent over a week at The Traveller Kandy to work on a book manuscript, and it was the perfect quiet retreat for that. Amazing views of the Mahaweli River and the Knuckles Mountains from the room and the terrace, warm hospitality by host Harshana and a fantastic breakfast cooked by a neighbour. Despite the feeling of seclusion supermarkets, cafes and restaurants are just a 10-15 minute walk away.

Negative: You will need a TukTuk to go into town as it’s about 15 minutes from Kandy Lake by car/three wheeler.

Summary: A peaceful oasis in the mountains.

Positive: I fell in love with this place! The spacious room and common areas are very clean. The balcony offers a breathtaking view. There’s a small kitchenette where you can boil water, use the dishes, and store food in the fridge. Within walking distance, you’ll find a vegetable shop and stores with all the essentials. Simple yet delicious Sri Lankan food is available nearby. The room doesn’t feel hot, so there’s no need for air conditioning. I didn’t even use the fan. It’s a perfect place to relax and recharge after exploring the mountains and local sights. Getting to the center of Kandy is easy: take a tuk-tuk or hop on a local bus, which runs frequently. The host is an incredibly kind, hospitable, and responsive person, always ready to assist with anything you need. You can tell he truly loves what he does. He also has a wonderful dog, which makes the place feel even more welcoming. A pleasant surprise for me was that they sort waste here, which is rare to see. For just $13 a night, you won’t find a better place to stay in Kandy!

Positive: Probably the nicest place I've stayed so far in Sri Lanka, on a one month trip. The building is incredibly spacious. My room was so big and so well designed that I felt like I was staying in a very tasteful hotel. I had a lovely balcony with an excellent view. Shower was perfect. The host and his partner have the perfect combination of being really friendly but also laid back. If I ever come back to Kandy I will definitely be staying here again. Also all the people in the surrounding neighborhood were very friendly.

Negative: I can honestly say there is nothing that I didn't like about my stay here. It's 20 mins by tuk tuk from Kandy. That might be too much for certain travelers but I don't see it as a negative.
