Positive: Villa olde Ceylon is run by the loveliest couple, the hotel is so beautiful and the husband built it from scratch. Incredible attention to detail and felt like a little oasis away from busy Kandy town. The rooms were clean, big and spacious with a balcony, AC and lovely hot showers. They were so helpful organising tuktuk’s for us and giving us recommendation as well as cooking us delicious breakfasts. A gorgeous start to our holiday in Sri Lanka, would highly recommend.

Negative: Access was difficult and the nearby main road was very busy and noisy. In a quieter location it would have been perfect.

Positive: Stunning setting in a beautiful garden. My room had a comfortable bed, and was clean and beautifully decorated. Complimentary bottled water in the room. My first hot shower in 2 weeks. Nice fruit and eggs for breakfast. Kind and helpful hosts.

Negative: Unfortunately the wifi isn't much good which was a shame as we needed it to check in for our flights. There isn't a restaurant, contrary to the description on booking.com.

Positive: One of the prettiest little hotels I have ever seen. If I lived in the tropics, this would be exactly the way my house would look. Every little space is very thoughtfully decorated with handmade art and wood carvings and plants. Breakfast was equally lovely and plenty. Little tip: the hot water is usually solar powered, which means that on a cloudy day it can be that there's little or no hot water in the shower. But you can just tell the owner and he'll flip a switch to turn an electric heater on and within 30 minutes you'll have more than enough hot water to shower as long as you want. The rooms are absolutely beautiful with well working AC and a cosy little balcony that looks like it is in the middle of the jungle. The pool is on the colder side but once you are in it is really lovely, especially after a hot a sweaty day around Kandy. There is a laundry service 10 minutes walking distance away. Bed is very comfortable. Payment is Cash only! Lots of narrow staircases, so be prepared to carry your luggage up and down this lovely little maze of a hotel. Like in every major city you'll need earplugs to sleep comfortably. There's sounds from the nearby road and the people that live around the property.
