Positive: Staff: Very friendly and helpful—made check-in/out easy and gave good local recommendations. Location: Quiet area but still within walking distance to nice restaurants and shops. Amenities: Having a kitchen and washer was super convenient for a longer stay.

Negative: Bathroom Hygiene: The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time—stained floors, a gross anti-slip mat, and a general feeling of neglect. Towels & Bedding: The towels smelled musty, and the bedsheets didn’t feel fresh or clean. For the price, this was disappointing. Toiletries: The provided shower gel and shampoo looked like someone house leftover bottles for long time, so we ended up using our own.

Summary: The staff and location are fantastic, but the lack of proper cleaning really let it down.

Positive: We enjoyed the entire week at Green Gates. The location was great and the building made us feel we were living during the colonial era Penang. The food in the area was great and the hotel is conveniently close to all the sites we wanted to visit in Georgetown. Ms Fazeela was an exceptional host and helped us with anything we needed. Looking forward to our next visit. The complimentary visit to the museum across the street is worth a visit as well.

Negative: If I had to find something to winge about, maybe the Saturday night drinkers down the street, but it didn't last long and hey ...its part of the character of Georgetown.

Positive: Great location in the the old town. Walking distance to Little India and Chulia Street. Beautiful old building, with modern well equipped rooms. Arif was also a legend, very friendly, welcoming and helpful! Would recommend 100%

Positive: The Georgetown Green Gates was a fantastic stay, the room was large, comfortable and had amenities like shower gel, toothbrushes, combs and slippers. The room also had a fan and air conditioning which was perfect for days I didn’t want to use both. The location was excellent - few minutes walk from great cafes and restaurants and a short walk (less than 10 minutes) from Armenian street.

Negative: I didn’t any complaints - it was a fantastic stay

Positive: A huge room, one of the biggest I’ve stayed in, in a gated building where all the rooms surrounded a courtyard and there was a communal living room, dining room and kitchen. It felt safe, private and homely. There was a washing machine and iron and ironing board downstairs for any guest to use which was a great bonus. Smart tv that worked with no issues to allow connection to Netflix and other apps. Really friendly and helpful host over WhatsApp. Right round the corner from Love Lane and other great spots in the area. Maybe the best accommodation we’ve had over the last couple of months.

Positive: What a score for Georgetown, perfect location and fabulous rooms. It is in a historic building full of character. The host is awesome, Fazeela and her staff are so helpful with everything. Lots of communication while staying here and a great shared kitchen on the property. I will most definitely stay here again while in Georgetown. Right in the middle of the action but quiet.
