Hello from Beautiful Guilin! We welcome you to use our comfortable home as a staging area for discovering beautiful Guilin and China. Our home is a 3000 square feet beautiful 5 bedroom house, in a plush, high end community. It's located at the outskirt of the city, surrounded by evergreen mountains and bamboo rafting river. Our neighborhood is truly the best of Guilin. We live near the center of the city... 5 minutes away. We are out of the noisy neighborhoods, inside a beautiful gated community. Our neighbors gather at dusk and walk and talk on the boulevard. Our community is also next to rural, traditional Guilin. Rice fields, plowed by water buffalo and ancient villages are within a 5 minute walk. LuDi Cave, a famous cave is also just down the block. The Tao Hua Jiang (Peach Blossom River, a branch of Li River) flows next to our community and is the setting for cormorant fishing and scenic strolls.
Our house has 5 bedroom and 3 bathroom. All the bedding, towels, blankets, shampoo, hair dryers are provided, but no toothbrushes. The kitchen is also fully equipped. If you wish, we can arrange for our nanny to come in to cook, clean and do the grocery shopping for you with very extra cost.
In the morning, buy Mi Fen (rice noodles) from a local vendor for a 3.5 yuan(USD0.5) tasty meal. The local outdoor farmers market is a traditional source of healthy food. Or, ride a bike, take a bus or drive to the town center to shop, dine, play or party. In the evening, a local pastime is to go to nearby shops providing massage, hair washing and foot care.
Farther afield, Long Ji, the rice terraces, Mao Er Shan (Cat Ear Mountain), bamboo forests (like in Crouching Tiger...), river rafting, mountain climbing, hiking, bicycling, motorcycling, off road exploration, horseback riding, all can be done by day trips.
Farther yet, use Guilin as a home base and travel 4 hours by train to the beach at Beihai, on the South China Sea. 2 hours to Guangzhou. 8 hours to Xishuangbanna, where wild elephants rule the jungle. 8 hours to Li Tang and Shangri La, a doorway to the Himalayas and Tibet.
