Positive: Beautifully designed hotel, very comfortable, great restaurants and nice beach.

Negative: Note to take some cash with you for tipping. Staff is very nice and friendly and no one requests tips of course, but all the guests tip. Very American culture. Keep that in mind and get cash in advance as the ATM in the hotel charges inhuman fees.

Positive: Location is about 45 minutes from Cancun airport, just to be aware. Food is good overall. Breakfast buffet was consistently great with lots of options for many kinds of dietary needs. Dinner restaurants were good. Himitsu had the best apps and loved the teppanyaki. Bordeaux's entrees were delicious as well (especially the filet!). Oceana was confusing with 5 non-seafood entrees on the menu and only 3 seafood options. Preferred lounge and pool were great, though it would be great to have more menu options at the restaurant. They were underwhelming. Service was great at all places - restaurants, pools, bars.

Negative: Main bar seemed to close too early at 11. Drinks were not strong unless asking for a double.

Summary: Great place for relaxation in a clean resort.

Positive: From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was seamless and welcoming. We were greeted with cool towels, our luggage was taken care of by the bell staff, and we were escorted to the Preferred Club check-in office. The process there was quick and smooth. We were offered champagne and water, which was a nice touch even though I don’t drink. After a brief tour of the hotel, we were in our room within about 25 minutes of arriving. The room itself was absolutely gorgeous. We loved everything about it. When it came to dining, Bordeaux, the French specialty restaurant, was hands down our favorite for dinner. For lunch, we enjoyed both the buffet and Oceana, the seafood specialty restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The entire hotel is stunning, and it is clear that the staff works hard to keep the facilities clean and well maintained. Coco Café was another highlight and a must-have if you stay here. Having 24-hour access to snacks and coffee was incredibly convenient. Our butlers were very attentive and made our stay feel personalized. We communicated daily through WhatsApp, and they kept us informed about the day's activities and drink specials. It was great to have both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options available. The spa is also a must-do. The experience was relaxing and luxurious and definitely worth booking during your stay.

Negative: While we enjoyed many aspects of our stay, there were a few things we did not appreciate. Shortly after checking in, we were introduced to a staff member who explained our Preferred Club benefits. During this conversation, we were offered a $250 credit if we attended what was described as a 90-minute presentation about becoming a hotel member. We agreed, thinking it would be a brief session. Unfortunately, the presentation turned into a four-hour-long sales pitch. While we understand that the staff was doing their job, the length and intensity of the experience felt pushy and disrespectful of our time. The initial offer required a $34,000 down payment, which we felt was unreasonable to present to guests on vacation. Each time we declined, the price was lowered from $34,000 to $21,000, then to $15,000. This made the experience feel like a negotiation rather than an informative presentation. At one point, we were told we would need to sign a form that would make us ineligible for future offers, but when we agreed to sign, the form was never presented and yet another offer was made. In the end, while we did receive the $250 credit, we were left feeling drained and frustrated after losing an entire morning of the first full day of our anniversary trip. Another issue was the pressure to make dinner reservations in exchange for purchasing a bottle of wine. At this all-inclusive resort, reservations are only required at the Japanese restaurant. We were told that making reservations would help us avoid long wait times during peak dinner hours, but that turned out not to be true. Aside from the first night, when we had a short wait and enjoyed drinks at the Preferred Club bar, we had no issues being seated. We also explained that buying a bottle of wine did not make sense since I do not drink alcohol, but the upselling continued. The entertainment also left a bit to be desired.
