Positive: Staff for the most part are welcoming and friendly. The beach team in particular are great. The room was always immaculate. Food was great - like that the Maroma serves fresh fish at lunch and not just fast food like the other Secrets.

Negative: We came here in Jan 2022 for our honeymoon and had an incredible time. The hotel was immaculate and the staff so friendly and engaging. On this trip (May 2025) we decided to spend five nights at the newer Secrets Playa Bianca first then our last few days here at Maroma. In a few years and in comparison to Playa Blanca the hotel feels tired and dated in places. Although the two hotels have many similarities - restaurants the same and similar facilities. Maroma didn’t feel as special. The sales team at Maroma are a little heavy as well constantly trying to upsell. Having already spent thousands of dollars the extras just feels greedy and unnecessary. As with most hotels in Cancun it also attracts a big party crowd. After a few days it gets annoying.

Positive: The staff went beyond their responsibilities to ensure a great stay and service. Super crowded swimming pool areas. Very hard to find a spot on the beach Dirty beach bar and very outdated Dirty pool bar and very outdated and busy. I tried all the resturaunts and the food is dry and tasteless at best. The quality of food is very important to me.This Hotel is old and the resturaunts lack character and quality. There is only 1 poolbar in the resort and 1 in the lobby. That's it. Only 1 person mostly bartending. Long waits. Not smoking resort. You can't even smoke In the balcony or terrace. As an experienced traveler this hotel is worth no more than 200$usd a night.
