Positive: We had a great experience from the start with Mario picking us up from the Chepe train station in Bahuichivo. We were taken to the ranch which he runs with his family and we felt straight at home. Location is 8km out of Ceracohui in the middle of nature. The cabanas were beautiful and very clean, the ranch was spacious with lots of cute animals, seating areas and a viewing deck looking out on the canyon. As it’s rather remote, you will eat at the ranch. The food is all home made and tasted amazing. Mario can help organise all kind of tours from horse riding to hiking and a visit to Urique (bottom of the canyon).

Negative: In the entire canyon, you will not find ATMs, make sure to bring enough cash with you

Positive: Wonderful location in the wild with scenic views and full ecological surrounding (animals, stars...)

Negative: During my stay there was no warm water nor Internet, so I relocated to his brothers (highly recommended). The host is quite focused on selling their own tours (which I found pricey), the place did not feel to be equipped for winter (we had 1 degree c)

Visiting his Brother’s Hostel in Urique by the river, hearing about his family history, seeing his unwavering support of the Urique community, and understanding his long time involvement in the Caballo Blanco Ultra marathon race, means you get immersed quickly into what makes this place special. Loved everything about our stay.
