Positive: Gorgeous cottage in a quiet street with fabulous views and everything you could want. We loved staying a week in this lovely spot. The cottage is so comfy and has everything you need to stay for a great, relaxing holiday. Very homely and everything worked! There is no wifi but the cottage gets good reception so we just used our phones without an issue. The village is small but has cafes, supermarket, petrol station, and pubs, one of which (The Scotsman's Pack) is literally at the bottom of the road, 3 mins walk away, and it is great! Some lovely walks directly out of the village and others are an easy drive through the gorgeous Peak District.

Negative: The mattress on the bed definitely needs replacing! The only thing that put a bit of a dampner on the holiday. And check in instructions could be better. Communication between booking.com and us was non-existant when we sent messages and it appears the owner doesn't have an email or look at messages. We had to call him which was difficult for us as we only had a data plan on our esim. Ended up borrowing a phone at our previous accommodation.

Positive: Gorgeous location next to the church, where lots of walks start from, and a short walk to the nearest pub or to restaurants on the main road. Well equipped cottage had everything we needed. Good thermostat in kitchen so we could control the temperature. The drying rack came in handy. We did cook a little and kitchen seemed well stocked. Other reviews had mentioned the coin operated electricity, but this was fully topped up when we arrived so we never needed to add any money to it. Working tv and dvd player, we left some dvds we had brought from a charity shop. Helpful selection of flyers for local attractions too. The electric fire was cosy.

Negative: There was a low beam at the foot of the stairs and we had a few bumped heads when we forgot to duck, even me at 5 foot 3! The bottom step was also easy to miss in the dark and we had a few slips there. The main room didn't feel cosy until we moved the sofas closer to the tv and fire, and there were no cushions or blankets on the sofas so it also seemed quite bare. The road up to the cottage is very steep and not well lit at night. Take a torch!

Summary: Relaxing, walking, eating and socialising here is always good for us. This was our third stay here.

Positive: Lovely cottage, very comfortable. Heating when necessary. For interest sake, limited mobile signal. Calls best made from up the hill. No wifi available. A restful, peaceful time, beautiful surrounds, plenty of walks in area and good restaurants.

Positive: SUPERB location and comfort Great heating Fabulous setting so good to have a washing machine

Negative: 1. kitchen utensils were v sparse and pans tricky to cook with - we had to go and buy one non stick pan and a couple of other things - could do with a couple of baking trays, a decent non-stick frying pan and saucepan and a colander (lg enough for 4 people) . 2. dvd player on its way out too so will need replacing - maybe a collection of dvds that people leave behind would be good to have

Positive: The cottage is one of the oldest properties in the village and is a lovely location. It had a great cosy feel with stone walls and wooden beams. I would definitely recommend it and hope to stay there again one day soon!
