Positive: Gate to Nature is a beautiful place to stay. You are surrounded by nature and the jungle, it is very peaceful. You are able to swim and explore the river. The hosts were great and made us breakfast and dinner every day. The people in the local area were very friendly too! We were lucky to see an orangutan outside of the bat cave.

Negative: It can get quite warm in the room with no air con but the fan is good. It's around a 40 minute walk to Bukit Lawang but the location is still great!

Positive: Great Location, 100% in Nature and close to the river. Bed was very comfortable and there was a fan.

Negative: It’s not easy to get to the center also if there are other people in the bungalow next to you you can hear them. There is only the food the owner cook, which is good but overall not very flexible. There is a different guesthouse 5mins by foot where you can buy drinks and food. Bathroom is only a toilet and shower and water smells a bit odd.

Positive: Everything! Gate to Nature is off the beaten track, deep in jungle territory, on the river and simply stunning. The accommodation is simple with a fan and jungle/river views. You can sit in the river and talk to the locals and travellers alike while monkeys swing from the trees around you. Kawas and his family are absolutely beautiful people and so warm and welcoming. Breakfast is included and you can also opt for dinner. Perfect for adventurous travellers who want to avoid the tourist traps. 20/10!

Positive: An unforgettable experience! This guesthouse, located on the edge of the jungle, is a wonderful place for nature lovers. It’s peaceful, surrounded by greenery, close to a gently flowing river, and waking up to the sounds of the rainforest is something truly special – an experience that’s hard to find anywhere else. The past few days have been incredibly enjoyable, thanks in large part to the kind and welcoming owners. The food was delicious, and they were always ready to help. The owner himself is an experienced jungle guide, although we didn’t do a jungle trek due to an injury. Since the guesthouse is located in the jungle, the owners were still able to show and tell us a lot about the surrounding nature. One of the highlights of our stay was the moment we saw an orangutan in the trees right behind our cabin – an impressive and unforgettable sight. Such a close encounter with wildlife is rare. We also saw other species of monkeys around the guesthouse, and the owner was able to tell us a lot about them as well. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and beautifully integrated into the natural surroundings. You can also swim in the river nearby. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and it’s clear they deeply value the preservation of nature and wildlife. They are actively committed to protecting the jungle and its animals, and that dedication shines through in everything they do.
