Positive: Great location. Very comfortable cottage.

Negative: The wifi (or actually the stone age ADSL) is atrocious. Not having any would maybe be less annoying than an unreliable 6MB down and 0.1 up with a latency of 500ms! There is a big flatscreen TV in the cottage that really only allows you to steam content, or rather watch it buffer all the time. In the age of starlink where you can get 100Mbit anywhere for around £35/mo this is really not up to standard. And of course the lighting; spending your evenings in ultra cold white light doesn’t match the cottage vibe. Would have been nice if they put in something more ‘middle of the road’ or taken a trip to ikea and get a couple of zigbee lights with adjustable color temperature.

Summary: Very nice cottage if you don’t mind atrocious wifi or the horrible cold white light

Positive: The location is excellent and very peaceful, the amount of wildlife around is good. The cottage was very clean, modern and comfy.

Negative: The directors to the cottage are unclear. We managed to get to the village but had to ask several people where the cottage actually was. We found it eventually :)

Positive: The cottage has been recently refurbished to a very good standard. Set in a quiet location with easy access to the Wasdale, Eskdale and Ennerdale areas of the Lake District as well as some lovely beaches - particularly near Drigg. It is also only a short walk from the local pub which serves good ale and hearty meals. We liked the entrance hall with multiple hooks for hanging damp gear over a warm radiator and also some hooks in the porch for very wet gear which sometimes happens in these parts!

Negative: There were one or two utensils missing from the kitchen that we would have found useful. We have sent details to the landlord so they may already have provided them.

Summary: Cosy cottage in a great location.

Positive: Excellent location for scafell pike, free parking, warm house, comfortable beds, stylish home and very clean! The house manager was helpful and friendly too.

Negative: Some trouble with hot water on Sunday morning between 0800-0915, and the light bulbs could have been warmer colour rather than bright white.

Summary: Great place to stay if you want to climb scafell pike and enjoy the beautiful surroundings

Positive: We had a wonderful stay at the Church How Cottage. It is beautiful and spacious and well equipped. Located in a small, friendly village and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Plenty of good walks for all family. Kind and caring owners. Would definitely stay again.
