Summary: The Lincoln house is in a terrific location and is just like it is pictured in the listing photos. The castle really is just immediately behind and above the back of the house, and both the castle and cathedral are visible from the main bedroom. The street is quiet, and the upper town is a very short walk around the corner. There are restaurant and pub options, but only the Struggler’s Inn is a pub I’d recommend. The others have been “modernized” and “fixed up” to not really resemble pubs except on the exterior. Grocery options are more limited in the upper town. The lower town, easily walkable for the fit, is a short walk down the aptly named street Steep Hill, and the larger grocery stores, many more restaurants and other shopping experiences are there. The walk back up the hill is steep but not long. The house is modern inside and quite lovely. Comfortable beds, decent Wi-Fi, and the kitchen is pretty well set up to do basic cooking in. Both bathrooms are nice, and only one of them has a shower— There was no place (e.g. shelves or a cabinet) for multiple travelers to place their toiletries. A small matter and easily resolved. The washing machine washes only (no dryer). We were sent three different lock box codes (the correct one was sent last and we didn’t receive it until after our arrival) to gain access to the house, so there was a brief panic leading to a phone call that was eventually answered and the correct code given. Otherwise, no issues.
