This uniquely designed beach front home, approximately 4 miles south of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, is elevated to enhance the unobstructed views of the sea and is constructed from shipping containers. It really is an Out-of-the Box experience!

Made from shipping containers, Box House Boca Ciega is open concept with the kitchen, living area and studio-like bedroom flowing together. The home's design and fixtures give it a modern urban feel while the minimal decor keeps the space uncluttered and bright with just a hint of Texas and Belizean flair in the native hardwood cabinets.
The kitchen has full size stainless appliances (stove top only, no oven), concrete counter tops, and is fully stocked with small appliances and everything needed for cooking and eating in. A breakfast bar with stools serves as the home's dining area. The living area offers a full-size sofa bed and television. The studio-like bedroom has a king-size bed, closet space and television. The private bathroom is next to the bedroom as is a large extra closet. The bathroom is modern with a concrete vanity counter top, toilet and roomy tiled stand-up shower. The flooring throughout the home is the original preserved shipping container floor with rivets and all. A washer/dryer are located behind closed doors in a pantry area beside the kitchen.
The home's elevation from the ground only enhances the already stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. It doesn't matter which part of the home you are in, the floor-to-ceiling patio doors practically bring the outdoors inside. Open all the patio doors leading to the veranda and let the sea breezes blow through the house. If you prefer air conditioning, it's available. An east-facing veranda, the entire width of the home, is a perfect place to use the small gas grill.
The casita is situated right behind the main house and offers a queen bed, a kitchen and bathroom. The room hasAC and a ceiling fan and there is a deck with seating outside. The casita is an addon and must be booked through a separate listing.
Please note: All docks on the island are public access from 6 am to 6 pm.
Our concierge service can assist you with your domestic (Belize) travel and tours/excursions. If you are traveling from the mainland to Ambergris Caye/San Pedro by water taxi, we can arrange for your ground transportation from the international airport in Belize City (BZE) to the water taxi terminal and have your water taxi tickets waiting for you. If traveling by air, we can book your flight from BZE to San Pedro. Golf carts are the main mode of transportation on Ambergris Caye/San Pedro and perfect for exploring the island. We can make a golf cart reservation for you so your cart is waiting for you upon arrival.
Activities on Ambergris Caye/San Pedro are definitely water related as Belize has the second largest barrier reef in the world. There are snorkel and scuba diving trips just a short boat ride from shore. Flats fly fishing, reef fishing or deep sea fishing can be booked for half or full-day trips. Kayaks, paddle boards, jet skis, kite boards, windsurfers and bicycles can be rented by the hour. You can spend hours beach combing and stopping for cool beverages up and down the coast at a multitude of beach bars. Many beach bars have live local music to entertain you. Get a birds-eye view of the island and turquoise blue waters by parasailing or even book a helicopter tour. If spending a relaxing day on the water aboard a catamaran or sailboat excites you, we are happy to coordinate. There's even a casino on the island if you're feeling lucky! We can also schedule onsite services such as massage and a private chef.
If you want a different type of adventure, you may want to visit the mainland and be welcomed by the jungle! We can help coordinate transportation to the mainland from Ambergris Caye/San Pedro and a whole list of activities - Belize Zoo, ancient Mayan sites, cave tubing, zip lining, baboon sanctuary, hiking, rappelling, waterfalls, horseback riding, pontoon boating, butterfly farm, botanical garden, golfing.
Although most areas on the island are connected to electricity, water and internet, please be aware that there are occasional interruptions in service.

Summary: The Box House was everything we hoped for: gorgeous views, comfortable, and clean. Communication was great both before and during our trip. They helped us book our golf cart and our snorkeling trip. We very much enjoyed our stay there.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location close to town but out of congested zone. Host was very accommodating and responsive. Very private and directly on the water with own dock. I would highly recommend the Box House.

Summary: We last visited Ambergris Caye for a family scuba diving trip in 2018 with our 2 adult children so to celebrate my wife's retirement we decided to return for another dive trip but this time without the kids. The Box House was perfect for the two of us. The box house is unique, two freight containers side by side mounted on concrete pilings on its own private beach. The side facing the ocean consists of large sliding glass doors that afford an unobstructed view of the ocean and lead out onto a narrow balcony that is perfect for enjoying a drink and game of cards or backgammon in the afternoon after a day of diving. The kitchen is small but perfectly adequate for our needs. King size bed was comfortable with views to the ocean. Bathroom and shower clean and worked as expected. Anyone staying here will need to rent a golf cart and the house is about 20-25 minutes from San Pedro. The road, especially the unmade part, is pretty bumpy but really this is all part of the fun of being away from the main vacation areas further north. The house manager, Jessi Betancourt, arranged a golf cart rental for us prior to arrival and we were met at the airport by the rental agent. We dove with Belize Pro Divers who I highly recommend. They picked us up in the morning and dropped us off after the dive at the dock that extends out from the Box House beach.The Box House was perfect for our stay and I look forward to staying there again on our next trip.

Summary: We really enjoyed the privacy of the rental! We booked massages, Tropic air tickets, and a golf cart through Jessi, the guest experience manager and it helped so much! We even needed to make a change to our return flights to BZE and Jessi took care of it immediately. Just to be forewarned the property is a bit far from everything so a golf cart is an absolute necessity. It takes about 15 mins to get to town via golfcart but there are some restaurants closer. There are power issues and we had several power outages, one was 14 hours (no fault of the property owner, just be aware) we happened to bring a flashlight which turned out to be very helpful! The only thing that was missing was a full length mirror, the mirror in the bathroom is pretty tall so I wasn't able to see my outfits. When it was clear weather you can see the boats at the Hol Chan Marine reserve and see Caye Caulker. There are Pelicans fishing off the dock all day which we enjoyed watching.

Summary: Everything was just as advertised in the listing. Great views, beautiful yard the inside was like brand new. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was just perfect. We watched the boats go by in the morning and the waves on the reef. There was even an iguana show everyday in the yard. Beautiful male and his girls. All in all it was a perfect location for privacy and all access to the island. Jessi our liaison was very attentive to all our needs and made everything easy. We thank you for such a wonderful house.

Summary: After spending three weeks at different locations in Belize, my husband and I wanted to spend a week by ourselves enjoying the beautiful waters of the Caribbean. This was just the ticket for us! Beautiful sunrises and pelicans, birds, and iguanas to watch! We shopped at Superbuy for our groceries and did most of our own cooking….it is a 20-30 minute ride into the center of San Pedro, however there are some other options around if you want to eat every meal out. Jessi communicated well and all went without a hitch!

Summary: We stayed at the Box House during the holidays. It was the perfect place for us. Away from the busy city centre, on the ocean, with constant views. We enjoyed the privacy, and getting everywhere on a golf cart was a breeze. Jessi was there to answer any questions we had and helped us with groceries for when we arrived. He also helped us look into excursions. Our entire experience was amazing! We will be back.
