Situated on Lagada Ridge, Villa Danae Crete offers 5 bedroom luxury accommodation on the outskirts of the delightful village of Makrygialos in the south east of Crete.
Overlooking the sea, Villa Danae is the perfect setting for the ultimate relaxing holiday in the sun with your family and friends.
The villa provides quality accommodation both inside and outside, in a style sympathetic to its surroundings.
The lounge, kitchen and dining areas are replicated outside around the inviting PRIVATE HEATED POOL surrounded by a terrace with sun beds, stone gazebo and settees for lazy days in the sun and evenings under the stars.
The finishing touch is the purpose built barbecue where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch in the outside dining area under the shade of the pergola
The well appointed lounge extends onto a patio with further comfortable seating
There is a double (king size) ensuite bedroom on the ground floor, ideal for older guests or those with disability, complete with grab handles and wide doors for wheelchair access.
The whole ground floor has been designed to facilitate older or disabled guests with ramps enabling access all round the ground floor inside and out.
Upstairs you will find another 2 double (king size) en suite bedrooms and 2 twins with house bathroom all with private balconies. The twin beds can be joined to make further king size beds - the villa will accommodate 11 in beds + 1 baby in a cot
And for all you sun worshippers and stargazers, there's the roof terrace
Air conditioning is provided in the lounge, dining room and all bedrooms
There is a cot and high chair (more available - just ask) and a comprehensive baby kit
If you've had enough sunshine, the lounge has a music system (iPod, mp3, cd, radio) and a 42" tv with satellite tv, DVD player, Wii and Playstation3 (bring your own games but make sure they are compatible first!) and the wireless router for internet connection via our satellite dish

Summary: Loved this accommodation and it’s surroundings and the locality in which it is situated. Daily pool testing ensured it stayed clean, reception at Lagada resort helped us with little asks. Super holiday. Minir criticism is the quality of the linking road from the main road… v bumpy and hard on a car. Thanks for a great stay

Summary: We had a lovely stay. The villa was spacious and the pool a dream. We enjoyed using the barbecue and eating outside. We didn't have the use of the PlayStation although this arrived while we were there. No doubt its all set up now. The villa is not far from Makrigialos where we met a very warm and welcoming family who run the food shop and restaurant next door. We definitely recommend this villa.

Summary: We booked this holiday as a last minute booking. Everything went as smoothly as we could’ve wished. We used the BBQ and swimming pool everyday. We have teenage kids, so they just wanted to hang out and chill at the villa and pool. In fact, in 8 days we only ate out twice because of the amazing local food you can buy from the town. The butchers was just wow wow wow. Great fruit, veg and wine (all from the wine shop) and bakers. I’d say a car is pretty essential, just to pop into town to get provisions as the walk is not easy in the heat due to road conditions and heat. There is a bus...but again, the heat (we had between 37-41c) would not make the wait desirable but then again, we have teenage kids! Be prepared for slow WiFi...it’s Crete after all, so you won’t get super speeds you ‘re used to in the UK and other parts of Europe but it does work. Patience and route in holiday...it was good enough to get BBC news and make a booking for a day out excursion. Overall 5/5 stay. We’d recommend it and we’d definitely go back.

Summary: Once we arrived at Villa Danae, we were impressed, the pictures are not doing any justice. The house is perfect, everything was there to have a comfortable stay. The view from each room is amazing. The location is quiet, and you have to drive to get to the beach, or just enjoy the wonderful pool. We did several day trips to different cities and beaches, but there is also a beautiful secluded, almost private beach, just a 8 min drive away. Communication with the property manager Tony was easy and he responded to every request immediately. We truly enjoyed our stay there. We usually don’t stay at the same place twice, but we would consider coming there again.

Summary: The villa was absolutely superb with all the necessary items needed for a comfortable stay. It was very clean on arrival, the pool attendant came most days to change the filter, and the housekeeping attended at the end of our first week. We only had a couple of problems, for example the kettle gave up on us after the first day but it was quickly replaced albeit with a model that did not switch off automatically. The second problem was the cooking hob. This did not seem to work very well if the "locked key" had been activated because the hob had not been in use for about a day. This problem was reported to the management company. It would be more comfortable if a window/door blind was fitted in the kitchen, because when cooking the evening meal the sun level was such that it glared into the room making "blind spots" when moving from the hob to a working surface. This was at approximately 6pm untl 7pm. Never the less the Villa Danae is an excellent venue for a holiday. We have been taking villa holidays for over twenty years and this property numbers very highly in "best villa". Thank you.

Summary: After taking villa holidays for ourselves and extended family over the last 8 years Villa Danae is one of the best. Everything from initial contact with the owner was great, the booking, travel instructions, recommendations when we were there and so on. The villa was as described and reviewed, spacious, well equipped with stunning views of both mountains and sea. The tranquility only broken by our grandkids having fun in the pool. A car is essential but it is only a short drive to sandy swimming bays and the little town where the locals could not have been more welcoming or hospitable.

Summary: Just returned from an amazing holiday with friends and wanted to share our experience. We arrived at Heraklion airport and this was our first visit to Crete. A scenic drive to the Villa, car is essential, stopping off at a Taverna recommended by the owners. The directions were easy to follow and as we turned off the main road we could see the impressive Villa. Inside it was everything we hoped for, spacious, inviting, welcome food pack, much appreciated bottle of wine, well stocked cupboards etc. There were plenty of sun loungers, comfy seats and a warm pool. We loved the Barbecue area and spent many a happy hour there. The owners had recommended several places to visit and eat which was very helpful. We loved the Tavernas in the mountains and walking through the centuries old villages. Also Tavernas on the beach? Everyone was so friendly, never had a disappointing meal.Prices were exceptionally reasonable. Don't miss a visit to Spinalonga. I had read a book by Victoria Heslop, The Island, and it was a delight to catch the ferry and visit it. Our 10 days was far too short and are already planning our next visit.
