Positive: I like the traditional feel of the place. Staff were pleasant. Room was comfortable. Location on the river in town is good. They provide amenities, which is appreciated. Onsen was nice.

Negative: There’s no heating outside the room. If you go in the winter you’re going to freeze when going to use the toilet. During the day, when the staff is cleaning, they turn off the space heaters in the halls and open all the windows to freshen the air even if the outside air temp 1.6°C. It’s freezing in there. The space heaters never warmed up the halls. Tap water in hand sinks is ice cold.

Summary: Nice place, don’t go in winter (unless you like to freeze).

Positive: Lovely family run traditional guest house. My room had a lovely view over the river. The owner was lovely and with limited English did her best at making me comfortable, helping me use the washing machine, and finding somewhere good for dinner. I arrived a little early and her mother was the only one on site and had no real English but still did her best to accomodate me until her daughter arrived to check me in. The hot bath was nice and there’s even a private one you can book for an hour too in case you’re a little uncomfortable with sharing. I think currently their dining room is being renovated so no meals at the onsen but lots around locally.

Negative: Nothing it ticks all the boxes for an original older style (maybe 80s?) family guest house.

Summary: For a legitimate family onsen stay.

Negative: The photos gave me the impression there was a hot spring bath in each room but in reality there are just 2 (1 men's and 1 woman's) for communal use. This might be just me though.
