Positive: The Station Master’s House is full of character and Torver makes a great base for visiting the Lake District. The accommodation is comfortable, spacious and well-equipped for self-catering. The property has a lovely large garden with lots of plants and a pond to attract wildlife and birds. Great pub across the road.

Negative: There were a few minor niggles – the bedside wall lights were not working, and some areas of the house could do with a spring clean. The shared garden would not suit everyone.

Positive: Beautiful place to stay , big warm n comfy. Heather the owner was Friendly and helpful . Fantastic beds Loads of room Loved everything about this place , probably the best I've stayed at!

Negative: Entrance to property was very tight but manageable after a couple of times haha

Summary: Best pace I've stayed !

Positive: A very well appointed, cosy property which quickly feels like home. Pleasant garden. Beds were very comfortable. Shower facilities excellent. Stunning view of the top of Coniston Old Man from the dining room table. Excellent location with nice local deli/pub and quick access to superb hiking routes.

Negative: This is not a detached property! It is semi-detached, featuring a small annexe to one end - this means that you could be sharing the garden space with strangers! The owners turned up unannounced just after we arrived and stayed in the annexe, which was initially very awkward and slightly odd. They did turn out to be lovely people, but this detail should be made more explicit. It is also not a fully enclosed garden as we thought: you have to leave the gate open in case of other guests coming/going; so we couldn't let the dog roam freely outside. The entry way to the drive is quite narrow, even for a regular hatchback sized vehicle. It is next to a road which does have some noisy vehicles travelling along it at times.

Summary: Lovely property, ideal location, feels like home... but is not detached as we had assumed.

Positive: It's a quaint cottage with an interesting layout and a charming garden. The kitchen is well equipped and the living/dining area was spacious and comfortable. It's always nice to find a selection of teas, coffee and biscuits upon arrival! It's easy to walk or drive to Coniston and there's a pub and deli virtually opposite. The wi-fi is good - a bonus as phone signal was not strong.

Negative: The entrance gateway is very tight for a family sized car! The shower is not very powerful and the bathroom smelt a bit musty - we were able to keep the windows open which sorted it out.

Summary: Quaint cottage well located for the Lakes
