Positive: Great location for walking/hiking either down to Coniston water or to the "Old Man" or any of the other many trails, you can literally walk straight from the cottage. Great views out across fields from all windows. As well as the main upstairs bathroom, there is a downstairs shower room and toilet which made things easier and quicker for the four of us in the mornings. Parking is opposite the cottage on a wide section of the road rather than a marked bay, which was fine for us but as others have said, could be concerning if you have young children. Nice pub at the end of the road and deli next to it (didn't use the deli).

Negative: Although this is an old cottage with lots of history (there is a box on the bookshelf containing photos and a story of the previous owners) it seemed to be in need of a deep clean and some repairs. The curtains in the bedroom fell down when being drawn. The upstairs power shower was so noisy I couldn't use it if anyone was sleeping. Lots of cobwebs if you looked upwards and a strong smell of damp downstairs when you first come in - although this seemed to disappear after a while. The beds themselves were spotless and quite comfy.

Positive: Quiet location near Coniston,, building is cool temperature wise, with a wonderful view of the old man of Coniston. Kitchen has a lot within all electric and downstairs toilet and shower is good quality, the toilet and shower upstairs is older fashioned

Negative: no parking on site, only place is on the road opposite, stairs are steep, and have a twist

Positive: Beds so comfortable Views from every window Somewhere to relax and get away from the world Torver was great despite summer hols we had space and it was so peaceful

Negative: The shower upstairs was great but leaked so reluctant to use The welcome folder could have had a bit more detail. It was cold but didn't realise there was kindling outside in the coal bunker.
