Summary: A lovely hotel in an idylic location. Car park is £8 for 24 hrs paid through the hotel, breakfast was good and plentiful and the room was large and quiet. There are evening meals served here and also a pub next door with meals and riverside seating. 1 min walk to the ferry that can take you across the river to another pub that serves food all day. Had a great night stay here and I will be back.

Summary: Very clean room. Comfortable bed. Had a forest view but to be fair it's a tall wall full of foliage. Could have looked nicer with a bit of planting / tidying up. Restaurant breakfast & evening meal were both great. Pleasant staff.

Summary: This is the first time we have stayed at this hotel but it certainly will not be the last. The hotel staff were excellent, very helpful, polite and accommodating. Our room was clean, airy and very cosy, a fan and cold water was in the room for our comfort during the hot weather we experienced. Breakfast was wonderful, well cooked, good quality food and plenty of it. The continental breakfast was equally excellent, great choice of everything. On the whole we are more than happy to recommend this premises and look forward to our next visit.

Summary: We had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time at the royal lodge. The room was large and the staff were very polite, welcoming and helpful. The bathroom and room were spotless. We also had dinner at the royal lodge which we both loved with the price definitely warranted. We would definitely stay again when visiting the Wye Valley. The road to the hotel is a little unnerving but that is the only downside we can think of. A lovely stay overall and would definitely recommend

Summary: Atmosphere was happy . Staff very helpful and friendly. Food was good . Didn’t like the mobile catering units at the front and in the garden … they looked horrid and we didn’t expect to see them .

Summary: Watch out for hidden charges for parking and pets that aren't mentioned upfront. Otherwise ok, bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, nice location.

Summary: We had a wonderful time during our 11 day stay. The staff is phenomenal, so attentive, professional and helpful. We stayed in the Oak Suite and would highly recommend to everyone. The Juliet balcony and private deck was perfect for morning and evening relaxation. The boat cruise was just steps from the Lodge and hiking along the Wye was an easy walk where you could see the rapids and kayaks working hard. Kudos to the staff and management for an awesome experience.

Summary: Fabulous location on the river with walks from the get go, wonderful service, lovely room- very dog friendly and the best lamb in the restaurant!
Deepak Apr 12, 2026 01:49:36 AM
Summary: Breakfast should have been included in the already steep price
Tristan Apr 7, 2026 01:26:58 PM
Summary: Very happy overnight stay in a family room for a family of four. Very homely atmosphere, the hotel is an older building so a bit quirky but nothing to detract from being comfortable. Played table tennis and pool on the small & unbalanced table - all good fun for non-serious players. Food was good too.
