Positive: If you like camping and nature, then The Fun Boat is the place to stay in Bath. It gets a 10 out of 10 from me because although it is primitive the experience was absolutely beautiful! Dunstan the host is a lovely caring person who informs you fully of everything you need to know whilst on board the boat, he is very knowledgeable about the local area and is very helpful in answering any questions that you may have. There is no shower on board the boat, but you can walk 3 minutes to the sports centre next door to have a shower at a cost of £3, (this is just like walking to the toilet block on a campsite). The toilet is a plastic portable camping toilet which is completely adequate for your needs and there is a camping stove to use to boil the kettle for a cuppa or to cook something basic. The boat itself is small but very homely, with lights, heating, charging points and wi-fi. The bed was extremely comfortable and very cosy aiding a very good night’s sleep, and you can enjoy breakfast with the swans as they glide past you on the river. The shops, restaurants, attractions and town centre are all within walking distance, crossing one beautiful bridge on one side and crossing back across another beautiful bridge on the other.

Negative: Although there is no shower on board the boat which at first made me feel oh no, it actually didn't really bother me as the rest of the experience completely outshone that one negative.

Summary: I will return.

Positive: The whole experience of sleeping and staying on a boat, in the center of an ancient Roman city. Just like camping but better. the sounds of the river, and church bells was fantastic! the beds were comfortable and the cabin had my essentials coffee tea fruit etc. very nice if you like camping which we come from the mountains of tennessee so yes great time! Oh yes, greeting and feeding the family of swans every morning and watching the otters play! cant beat that!! Also close to the shops and groceries. Dunstan was an awesome host full of tips and very helpful!

Positive: Perfection on water Little Things Matter- this boat was ALL about the little things. The little things in life are the moments that often go unnoticed, but they are the ones that truly matter. We had such a wonderful time staying on this charming boat! While it’s worth noting that there’s no shower on board, the leisure centre with excellent facilities is less than a minute’s walk away, which worked perfectly for us—though it might not suit everyone. The boat itself was spotless, cosy, and incredibly well-equipped. Every little detail had been thought of—from a full set of kitchen utensils and a lovely whistling kettle to the best granola ever! It’s clear a lot of care and attention has gone into creating a welcoming space and if you need anything else then the host is on hand to meet your requests. The location is simply stunning—peaceful and scenic, yet only a short walk (less than 6 minutes!) into the heart of Bath. Everything you could need is nearby, including great restaurants and attractions. Our host was superb—communication was excellent from start to finish, with clear directions and fantastic recommendations for places to eat and visit. He checked in with us straight after our booking to ensure that this was the right place for us- due to no shower and limited luxuries. He sent a very detailed whats app outlining how to get to the parking, which he had arranged. He met us and escorted us to the boat, showing us everything, ensuring that we were comfortable. Truly a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something a little different!
