Positive: Food was amazing, complimemtary drink and snack area was great, room was beautiful, and outdoor onsen was lovely.

Negative: Private bathroom could have been a bit cleaner - bathroom tub drain had not been cleaned out properly and grouting under sink needs replaced.

Positive: The lobby area was clean, and the free-flow of booz snacks and canapés all day was a nice touch. The dining area is modern and pleasant, but overall service and hospitality did not consistently meet the cleanliness and attentiveness associated with Japanese standards. In particular, during dinner I observed a Vietnamese staff member wiping debris from the table and swiping it onto the floor while other staff stood nearby chatting, which reflected poorly on the level of care. Food quality was also average.

Negative: There was no air conditioning, and the heat in Hokkaido made the experience extremely uncomfortable—especially after using the onsen. The rooms are dated and feel old, with a noticeable musky smell, indicating they are overdue for an upgrade.

Positive: This is a mixed review; some good, some bad. The room we booked promised to have air conditioning. When we arrived, the room measured 88F inside. We fiddled with the knobs inside the room, but they did nothing. My wife went to talk to the staff and they said that the cooling season had not begun - so the ac was off for the entire hotel. It is not possible to turn on AC for any individual room. They brought us a fan. I have stayed in $10 hotels in Honduras and endured 88F temps with 100% humidity… but those are $10 rooms. This seems a bit unacceptable to me, and I dreaded that we would be staying a total of 3 nights! We suffered through a soaked sweaty first night, but then a cold front came in, and the room itself became a comfortable temperature the next two nights. Our enjoyment went up, and we even added an additional night to wait out strong winds. All of the staff were friendly, except the first person we encountered, who did not acknowledge us and looked at his electronic device instead of responding to our question. But everyone else was fantastic. One employee allowed us to park our bicycle in the entry area which was really nice. He was also very polite and smiled a lot. The onsen itself was a nice temperature and the facilities clean and typical. The room itself is big, clean, and well appointed for Japanese hotels, so the only issue is the climate control. The Wi-Fi did not work in our room on 5th floor. I walked down the hallway testing and it did not work anywhere in the hall - but it does work by the elevator. I have a travel router which repeats Wi-Fi signal. So personally I was able to get Wi-Fi by using a device that I plugged into a common area.. but most people would not be carrying such a device. **Update: On our 2,3, and 4th nights, the wifi did work, though it seemed to struggle during high usage periods. The buffet has good quality food, but VERY SPARSE on vegetable content.

Positive: Comfortable and pleasant hotel with excellent onsen. We had half board and the food at both breakfast and dinner was outstanding. Warm and pleasant lounge area with log fire. Well located for the nearby cable car (2 mins from hotel). OlderJapanese style rooms but large and comfortable. Half board recommended as few options around and standard is high. Definitely use the onsen. Helpful nearby Visitor Centre gives advice on walks and other activities. Parking right at Hotel door.

Negative: Nothing.

Summary: Comfortable Hotel with excellent food and onsen.

Positive: Buffet. Entertainment area on 2F - arcade and karaoke booths. Free massage chairs on 5F.

Negative: Cobwebs in the room. 1F spa (39 deg pool) was dirty. Entertainment area on 2F closed too early (10pm).
