Positive: The onsen was really great!

Negative: Google Map directions could have been better. If you're coming in to Soungkyo by bus, the directions will tell you to walk down a ramp that's constantly flowing water. But that's not the right way, you just need to go straight until the hotel comes into view.

Summary: Great, a little expensive but the onsen was really nice.

Positive: Excellent location, room overlooking the river and mountainside. Very close to the Kurodake Ropeway, we walked there and back.

Negative: The room is absolutely not up to par. We had the Japanese double room, and it had clearly only been given a cursory cleaning. The net on the window was caked in dust and dead insects. The bathroom was functional but has not been updated since the 70s, and the vibe was downright depressing, especially while on holiday. Given the price, I felt cheated. Futon bedding was provided, which was fine. Dinner and breakfast were repeated, quite average. We enjoyed the Genghis khan. The hotel would benefit greatly from a thorough renovation. Staff were generally helpful and of an agreeable nature.

Positive: The location: close to waterfalls n ropeway. The staff: polite and helpful but most are not conversant in English. The onsen: good size, can accommodate despite the high occupancy. Dinner: good spread and was efficient in managing crowds.

Negative: We booked two rooms but they put us 5014, 5015 which were opposite ends of the corridor. The area outside the bathroom is slippery, my aunt slipped and fell, fortunately the floor board is soft so other than some bruise, she’s ok. The room is warm, aircon fan is weak. Some rooms just left their door open for cool air from the corridor to get in. We open our room window to let some cool air in (it was raining and 16degrees C outside.

Negative: The food quality of buffet breakfast and dinner not good. The clothing for hot bath is unattractive. Our room has no air-con and needed to open windows, thus lots of insects flying in. Onsen is below average.
