Positive: I have been staying at this hostel for the last month and a half, and it has been a wonderful experience. The main owner and the receptionist are some of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met. They allowed me to extend my stay while I was searching for an apartment and even showed me around town. The washing machine was very helpful, saving me trips from going to a coin laundry. The building itself was renovated from a ryokan, so it still retains a lot of traditional Japanese character. At the same time, it blends this with snow monkey-themed artwork, a modern kitchen, a bar, and a comfortable lounge area. The result is a genuine hybrid of traditional and contemporary Japanese design. I stayed in the male dormitory room, which was spacious, consistently clean, and very comfortable. Each bed feels almost like a small capsule room, with curtains for privacy, charging ports, and an individual light. There is also plenty of luggage space, making the room practical and easy to use. Another great feature is the guest kitchen. It has a free drink area with green tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, as well as a gas stove, fish grill, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and sinks for easy washing up. Everything needed for cooking is provided, except for the food itself. There is a small supermarket-style store beside the dormitory, and a Lawson about five minutes down the road, so it is very convenient for guests who want to cook during their stay. For those who don’t there are amazing restaurants in the area, who’s staff are friendly and serve things like pizza, sushi, traditional Japanese food and even specialties, like basashi. The onsen is another standout feature. It is available at night and is large enough for about four people at a time. The room is also decorated with paintings of Japanese snow monkeys, matching the theme throughout the hostel and giving the space a warm, local atmosphere.

Positive: Irish is a super manager! Supported by Jason, the boss😉, you get super information about what to do, which restaurants , where to go., Etc. The Lodge is cozy with beautiful paintings! The Ibsen is really hot, so you better fill it up with some cold water. We had a beautiful hike here and really enjoyed our stay.
Negative: It is a pity they aren't allowed to have a restaurant but the kitchen facilities are great. Right in front of the lodge there is a great restaurant Ru. Go there. Great mushroom salad! Nothing negative to write

Positive: An incredibly cool place to stay in Yamanouchi, the rooms are clean and well-maintained, the owner and staff really welcoming and warm. They even offer advice on local attractions, can help you get around and give tips on how to spend your time during the stay. If you consider staying in the city, this place is a no brainer! 10/10

Positive: I loved the mood of the place. If you are looking for a moment to connect with nature in Japan, this is the perfect spot to stay. Everyone was not only friendly but willing to share their experiences, stories and recommendations. The distribution of the spaces is really cool as well as the art in every corner. The fact that you get to have an Onsen in the house is very special.
