Aegina, the closest island to Athens – just 40’ on the hydrofoil ferry, swims in ancient history, traditional culture, breathtaking beauty, and of course… its brilliant crystal clear waters. According to myths, Aegina got its name from a nymph – with whom Zeus fell in love, and took with him to this amazing island.
The old stone cottage, which we lovingly call our ‘’secret garden’’, is situated on a hill 5’ drive from the main town/port of Aegina, and several sandy beaches. It is surrounded by half an acre of stone paved courtyards interweaved in Greek gardens, planted with a variety of mature and lush almond, olive, pomegranate, fig and cypress trees. As a special treat, the swimming pool terrace provides a stunning view of the sunset, the sea, and other surrounding islands.
The newly renovated & refurbished traditional stone cottage, boasts one large bedroom with a double bed on a raised platform, and two single beds. The open-plan living room, which also has a double sofa-bed, extends into a lovely dining area and fully-equipped kitchen. The cottage retains all of its traditional character and charm, while also providing all modern amenities from WiFi & smart TV, to A/C & a Nespresso machine. Recently we added a second cottage which we call the Artist's Studio in the same style and quality, just 10 meters from the main cottage. It is completely autonomous with its own kitchen and bathroom, and open-plan layout.
BOTH cottages are rented together, as one property, ensuring absolute privacy.
Despite the wonderful stone cottage interior, you will probably be spending most of your time enjoying the outdoors, sipping freshly-brewed coffee on the stone patio in the mornings amongst the trees, contemplating which beach to visit. If you are feeling especially lazy, you can jump in the pool for a nice splash. Even better, will be the evenings, while you sample Greek delicacies at the end of the day, discussing your stroll through a charming village or inspiring ancient temple, whilst gazing at the setting sun.
Of course one cannot describe in just a few paragraphs everything this amazing island has to offer, from charming little villages to neo-classic architecture of the main town, from the multitude of beaches with crystal waters to the fascinating archaeological sites & temples, and from the Greek gastronomical wonders to the oldest olive grove in Europe – with 500 year old olive trees.

Summary: The setting and furnishings of the 2 cottages are superb. The owner has excellent taste for color, artwork, and functionality. We loved our stay and Davina was always available by text or phone.Our one caution is that at 80 years old, the bed in the larger cottage is difficult to access --but we did, and it is very comfortable.

Summary: We've had a wonderful super relaxed stay at the Secret Garden Cottage. The two houses are gorgeous, well equipped kitchens, comfy beds, roomy living spaces. And then there is the pool with panoramic views and sunsets. Couldn't have asked for more.

Summary: I really enjoyed the stay at the villa. It met all the expectations and looked as in the pictures. I really appreciated that the villa complex consists of two houses. The pool of course is a dreamy one with the sunset view. Alex and Devina were both super helpful and made sure everything works as per high standard. Duly recommended!

Summary: The property is very close to the port and yet on a quiet spot on the hill with nice sea views. We enjoyed the plants in the garden and all the personal touches in both cottages. Throughout the day the terraces and the pool make it a wonderful relaxing stay!

Summary: We had the most amazing week at the property. Great communication from the owner with lots of suggestions for things to do on the island. Summary: We had a lovely time here. It is a very relaxing place. The two cottages are very clean and pleasant to stay in. The weather was very hot and we spent a lot of time in the pool and in Kilma Beach. The property manager was very helpful and provided recommendation for places to visit and eat.

Summary: The Secret Garden is a beautiful property, just over 10 min drive from the lovely bustling port of Aegina Town. We loved the style of the 2 properties, having a traditional build with beautiful interiors. It was very clean and so well equipped. The 2 buildings are very close, but offer a good flexible arrangement; my husband and I stayed in the pool cottage and our 2 adult daughters took the main house, this worked well. The pool area, newly built is particularly nice, surrounded by olive trees and having stunning views of the surrounding hills and the sea & neighbouring islands. We also loved the garden to the main house, with the pistachio tree and typically Greek covered loggia. The owner, Davina, was very helpful throughout our stay. Property manager Alex was extremely helpful in the booking process, providing lots of information on transfers and other local links. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are so glad that we chose The Secret Garden.

Summary: A really special house just outside of Aegina town. A great location with good views from its elevated position and very peaceful. Beautifully finished and very comfortable, we could have happily spent more time sitting outside and enjoying the property. Great hosts, a very friendly welcome and all the help we could have asked for. Couldn't recommend more. Thank you.

Summary: The place is secluded but close to everything one could need. Archeological sites, beaches, restaurants, you name it... everything is within a 10-30 minute drive by car. Our hostess Davina was so helpful from driving instructions, to making appointments. Simply a great stay!
