Situated along the shoreline of Loch Indaal, Portbahn is a modern, well insulated house with the main living areas all open plan, airy and with wide sea views. It has 3 bedrooms (2 with sea views) all on the ground floor, one ensuite bathroom and a family bathroom.
The kitchen, lounge, dining and back conservatory area are all open plan with wifi throughout. There is a tv, freesat box, DVD, and large selection of books & games. A log burning stove and underfloor heating throughout makes winter stays as toasty as summer ones.
There is a large, private, mature and well maintained garden with uninterrupted and breathtaking views across the loch. Ample car parking within the property grounds is available for guests.

Summary: The four of us had a fantastic stay at Portbahn. Beautiful house, great location, and the best view you could ask for. Much thanks to Pi and her team for a wonderful stay on Islay.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at this property. We would say it is more setup for family with smaller children. There was many games, puzzles, and toys for kids. The kitchen could use another non-stick pan and some measuring cups/spoons but otherwise the property was very nice.

Summary: We had a wonderful week on Islay at this lovely, cosy house. Everything we needed was on hand - the house is really well equipped and Pi answered any questions we had really promptly. There was lots of space in the garden for our two boys to race about and the view across the loch to Bowmore was absolutely stunning (and different every time we looked out). The cycle path right outside the house makes it easy to walk to Port Charlotte or Bruichladdich for a coffee and we would definitely recommend dinner at the Port Charlotte Hotel - but you'll need to book early! The island is beautiful and the beaches are sandy, empty and really accessible with a little cove a short walk from the house. We had a fantastic week and we'll definitely be back.

Summary: Home from home. Amazing collection of books. Large seaview garden for us and the dog. Walking distance to shop, beach, port Charlotte hotel and amenities. Owner couldn’t have been more accommodating.

Summary: Distances are short on Islay and the sea on our doorstep for changing views and swims. The house is spacious for four - and comfortable.
