Positive: Riad Saphiryad can be found in a quiet but convenient corner of the medina. Located in a beautifully traditional Moroccan building, the riad was clean and comfortable (though Moroccan mattresses seem to be a little too hard for our European backs!). The staff was extremely helpful - Mehdi went above and beyond, picking us up from the main road on our late arrival, preparing two takeaway breakfasts for us on our travel days, booked taxis and communicated typical taxi fares for tourists so we had a useful reference. He was also reachable via WhatsApp even late in the evening. As it was a quiet week for the riad, he even gave us flexibility to choose our preferred room on arrival. Breakfast was sufficient though some more fresh items (e.g. fruit) would have been a great addition.

Positive: I had a fabulous stay at Saphiryad. A last-minute opportunity came up to visit Morocco and with a great value flight booked, Saphiryad was available and new to booking.com, offering the authentic Moroccan experience I was looking for and in the right location. It didn’t disappoint, offering a beautifully presented bedroom with all the facilities. Really friendly staff making sure I had everything I needed. Before heading out the following morning to check out what Fes/Fez has to offer, I had a super breakfast - Natural Yoghurt, fresh fruit and a few cups of Moroccan strength coffee which set me up for the day ahead.

Negative: A quick call to the manager (Fatem Zahra – excuse the spelling mistake if incorrect!) and the hand soap that was running low was immediately replenished.

Summary: Great value, great location, authentic accommodation, genuinely warm and friendly staff.

The riad’s atmosphere is charming and calm, a lovely retreat after wandering the busy streets. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The receptionist offered great tips for places to visit and restaurants, and I even met the owner who was warm and welcoming. The room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged with everything I needed: air conditioning, free WiFi, and a cozy seating area. I also enjoyed relaxing on the terrace and strolling through the charming courtyard and hallways of the guesthouse. Breakfast was tasty and varied, and the shared kitchen and outdoor seating made it easy to relax and unwind. All in all, Saphiryad is a gem in Fès — I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience authentic Moroccan hospitality in a peaceful and convenient setting. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Fès.
