3 Bedroom Cottage in Isle of Skye, Carbost

Raven Cottage features a lounge with a woodburning stove for cosy nights in. There is a TV and a DVD player well stocked with DVD's for your enjoyment. We have super fast Starlink satellite Wi-Fi with download speeds of about 200mbps. The kitchen/dining room is modern with all conveniences, including a dishwasher and seats six comfortably.
There is a large utility/cloak room with washing machine and tumble dryer and further inner cloakroom/store for all the things you never know where to put.
On the ground level there are two bedrooms; one double and one bunk room with full size beds sharing a bathroom (bath and overhead shower).
Upstairs, accessed by an Italian beech spiral staircase, is the master bedroom with king size bed and en suite shower room. There is also a reading and games area with table football.
Outside is a large fully enclosed garden for children to play and explore (being aware of the stream mentioned below) and for all to enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery and the local wildlife (including ravens, buzzards, owls, bats, golden and sea eagles and occasionally otters and pine martens). The Allt nam Fitheach stream marks the easterly boundary of the garden and can be enjoyed from the overhanging decking. There is a shed that houses garden chairs etc and has space to store bikes etc. Glenbrittle Forest is across from the stream and offers excellent walking and cycling with magnificent views of the Cuillins. There is also a sea kayak put in point less than 2km from the cottage. It’s only about a 10 minute drive to Carbost with local amenities (shop, pub, distillery, cafes etc) and a 15 minute drive (depending on number of camper vans) to the Slig and Fairy pools for trips into the Cuillins.

Summary: Great location, lovely garden and surroundings, spacious house, needs a little update on the downstairs bathroom. The sofas were really worn out and some cobwebs in the bathroom and living room. But overall a very nice house, could recommend for everybody who loves to stay in a quiet and remote srea of Skye

Summary: Everything about Raven Cottage was perfect for hiding away to celebrate our Anniversary. Far enough from the local village to be quiet and relaxing, but still a reasonable driving distance to get supplies or sightsee. Stephen has a lovely list of walking/hiking trails handy, if you want to be out in the countryside. The brook and the garden behind the cottage make a wonderful place to enjoy staying close to home, as it were. Communicating with Stephen was great. He always responded very quickly. He clearly wanted us to have an excellent visit.Kitchen is well equipped. Plenty of space for a family. Beautiful view of the night sky through the upstairs dormer window. We wish we could have stayed longer and will absolutely choose Raven Cottage again for our next trip to Skye!

Summary: Very quiet location but quite a distance from amenities. You definitely cannot walk to town for a few items. The yard was beautiful but we were not there long enough to really enjoy it.

Summary: Nice remote quaint cabin if that is what you are looking for. Beautiful drive into the cabin past the Cuillin mountains. Although remote close to small co-op in Carbost as well as nice restaurant options. Hiking available from the cabin. Just over an hour drive to Uig about 30 to Portree and less than an hour to Skye bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh( I was driving slower than most ( not familiar with roads or driving on the left). Close to Talisker and Fairy Pools. Nice windows upstairs for star gazing if you catch a clear sky. Improvements would be detailed cleaning of bathrooms and a little updating. The 6PM check in we received was a bit unusual also.
