Positive: Best spot! Dimmer & family are amazing & so helpful, loved Tuk Tuk & Sumatra - cool relaxing lake atmosphere of Toba & surrounding mountains. Hosts are awesome to relax with, enjoy a Kopi & watch the locals go by. Close to everything including delicious local restaurants & warungs & supermarket/shops. 10/10!

Positive: Beautiful accommodation and very friendly owner! Dimmer picked me up and dropped me off at the ferry. Garden offers water access and a volleyball net. Comfortable bed, towels, and toothbrush provided. Loved that there was a little wall between the toilet and shower, which often isn’t the case in Indonesia. Located in a quiet area, so you can get good sleep. Would have loved to stay longer!

Negative: Would make sure to choose a room with garden view (rather than the ones upstairs at the street). Would be lovely if some soap for handwashing could be added to the bathroom!

Positive: The host, Dimmer, went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, included transportation to/from the island, scooter rental etc. He was always available in person and by phone to answer questions. The room was huge with a great big balcony with amazing view, very clean with new furniture. Access to the lake and a great swimming spot. Would definitely stay again!

Positive: A perfect stay in a beautiful Samosir Island! Dimmer is a very kind and attentive host who cares a lot for the wellbeing of his guests. The rooms are impeccably clean. Also, The location in Tuktuk is great with nice restaurants around. Also, the hot showers are a great bonus! I would definitely stay at Matraville again anytime.

Positive: By far the greatest accomodation we have ever stayed at. The room was spotless, spacious, and felt much more premium than the wonderfully affordable price it is listed at. Now about our host -- Dimmer is one of the best human beings I have ever met. If kindness was a person, it would be him. From picking us up from the port, to giving us coffee and traditional desserts morning and night, to sharing delicious Durians from his garden with us, to every piece of counsel given about navigating this wonder of an island -- there could not have been a better man to guide us. In all my travels, I have never met someone who has inspired me so much to be kinder and to give love without expectation. Matraville is an experience. If you are reading this, I would give my highest possible recommendation about staying here. More than the comfort and the warmth of the rooms, you will leave here with a renewed sense of faith in the how beautifully kind humans can be. Thank you for everything you and your lovely wife did for us. We remain forever grateful.

Positive: Thou there are some teething issues, but to my amazing the customer oriented host, Mr Dimmer is attentive and friendly - always ready to help. The home stay is about 800 m away from jetty. You can contact the host prior to arrival. He is more than happy to provides free shuttle and pick up service. Homestay is located lake front, morning and evening breeze make you pleasing. The room is sparkling cleaned with towels and basic amenities. Eatery outlets or warung and minimart are at walking distance. The home stay has car or motorcycle for rent if you need one. We stayed 3 nights here and truly enjoyed. Highly recommended. We will come back to this homestay if we are back to Samosir Island 🏝.
