Positive: Amazing location. We loved our Bure on the beach.

Negative: As others have mentioned, the food and service is not up to Fiji top standard. There is only one restaurant and the food got monotonous after only two days so my recommendation is don’t bother staying more than three days if you care about food. If you are gluten free/keto/veg I would recommend bringing your own food. The shop is extremely limited. We ended up eating six packets of family size grainwaves over three days.

Positive: Beautiful island with fascinating wildlife and some phenomenal, friendly and talented staff. Particularly good if you want a bit of a party and a laugh on an evening. Some of the singing was the best we heard in Fiji.

Negative: Parts of the resort are a bit dirty or untidy and there are arguably too many people for the size of the island (especially now the eastern beach no longer really exists), so felt a bit like a microcosm of overpopulation at times, especially when activities were fully booked. Food expensive and of average quality with no other choice (just one restaurant), so worth taking snacks and your own drinks to offset this. However they did have good, balanced vegetarian options on some nights, which were rightly cheaper than the meat/fish meals. You are a bit trapped on the island and the evening entertainment could get too much after a week or more, so wouldn't recommend staying for too long!

Negative: Check your flights line up with speedboat or other boat transfers. There is a timetable of transfers to get to Matamanoa Island. It's worth checking to make sure you don't get stuck anywhere! Or have to pay for a private transfer.
