Positive: The room was great for three people, the bathroom was spacious and modern, the beds (and couch-bed) were comfortable, and the staff were fantastic. The neighbourhood was very quiet, and the pub below the rooms was a great experience with friendly locals who wanted to chat. The breakfast was fantastic, and the seafood restaurant up the street (I believe owned by the same folks) was excellent. Be sure to make a reservation when booking, as it seemed to be a popular place - even in the off-season. If I was to visit Port Charlotte again, I wouldn't hesitate to look at this hotel first.

Negative: The only negative I have for potential travellers, and this isn't even a bad thing, is that Port Charlotte isn't the busy hub of the island. The nearby Bruichladdich distillery was stellar, but the majority of whisky action is at least 30 minutes away by car. If you have rented a vehicle and have a relaxed schedule, this would be the perfect place for a stay on Islay.

Summary: Delightfully relaxed hotel in a quiet seaside village. Highly recommended!

Positive: Family run hotel with cozy comfortable rooms above friendly bar. Excellent location for short walks and to explore whole island. Reccomend the Seafood Restaurant, also run by the family, just along the road.

Positive: The staff were so nice, helpful, and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and there was a wide variety of options. The room was cozy and the bed was amazingly comfortable. There were cordless chargers, tea and cookies, and an espresso maker. The entire hotel is quaint and charming and it's in a great location near restaurants and the Islay Museum and a 45 minute walk directly to the Bruichladdich distillery along a stunningly beautiful coastal path.

Positive: In order according to the headings for the ratings.... Staff.... extremely friendly and welcoming. Warm and inviting, making jokes and reassuring us about queries we had made. For anyone that has never visited the Islands....people are friendly just accept it. Facilities.... We have literally nothing to complain about. I was going mad trying to figure out what the fragrance was in the foyer to the Ardbeg room and I discovered it before checking out. Sandalwood and leather. Clean.... impressively clean. Shower and bath for whatever you feel like. Comfortable....so comfortable we slept in each morning. We had every Intention of getting up early but couldn't. Value....some may dither about the price but I was here to celebrate my dad's 70th father and son style. You cannot put a price on those memories in such a location. Suffice to say I was happy to pay the price I paid. I will pay that again. Well worth it. Location....what can I say that's bad about Islay. Midges. That's my only observation. Thank you Lochindaal see you again sometime.
