Positive: Our family of 4 stayed at Ivory Tree for 2 nights and it was a great experience for usnand the kids in terms of accommodation, food and safari game drives. The lodge was spacious and well maintained. We enjoyed the dipping pool in our lodge in between game drives. The food variety was broad, with menus changing everyday. Service staff were friendly and helpful. There was also an africa drum session at dinner on our first night where diners are invited to participate, which was entertaining and fun. We loved the safari game drives which were well spaced - there was one in the early morning and an evening one, leaving you half a day to enjoy other activities. Our guide Syabonga was great at spotting animals and also gave us good information about the plants around.

Negative: The only downside was the shower area which was outdoor, and exposed you to weather elements during your shower.

Positive: We are South Africans and have had hundreds of African bush experiences over the past 50 years. These range from self-drive and camping to super-luxury fly-in safaris. For people with limited time, Ivory Tree Lodge provides an excellent all-inclusive luxury option at a reasonable price.

Negative: For our first two game drives, our guide was a temp and not as knowledgeable as he could be – (perhaps we know too much). Our guide for the next two drives was a lot more experienced. He provided a good level of information without being overbearing. We understand that overseas visitors would like to see the Big Five, and the guides do their best to address this need in a short time, but sometimes this leads to paying too little attention to the smaller things.

Positive: We had an amazing 3 nights , food was great . Our guide Sam was exceptional , he was so knowledgeable had an amazing sense of humour and was adamant we see all we could and made our trip 10/10. Out last night we had dinner in the Boma with dancers and it was a fantastic end to a unbelievable getaway

Negative: Drinks were a bit pricy and housekeeping were a bit overwhelmed so some things got overlooked . But all in all, we had a great stay

Summary: Amazing family time away, we saw 4 out of the Big 5 .

Positive: We loved the hospitality and the food. The staff were wonderful and always friendly and the food was delicious. The facilities were great and our tour guide Jafta was funny and pleasant to have on a game drive. We saw so many animals which was a real treat.
