Positive: Oh my, to be away from the rush, at this lovely lodge, with 3 loose standing rooms (with kids bedrooms each) and bath&shower inside and bush showers outside, aircon plus ceiling fans, LOVELY & comfortable, was enjoyable for our family of six. All necessities are available (wifi in living area of main building, tvs, fridges, ice-machine, dishwasher, cleaning lady, etc). Hannes our guide needs a special mention, his friendly, knowledgable and well-mannered presence made this weekend super special! He calmed our nerves and instilled trust when the elephants came hand-reach close to our "Jeep". He showed us 3 male lions and a lioness about 30- 40 meters away, we were the only sightseers at that moment in time and were so blessed. He took care of our needs/wants (bathroom break for little one), etc. Hannes was prompt, we never waited, he even served coffee, etc. deep inside the bush. We will market Makanyane lodge far and wide and hopefully return, if possible. Thank you and God bless.

Negative: Utensils/cutlery can be upgraded if I can made a suggestion.

Positive: An unforgettable stay at Makanyane Lodge! 🌿🦁 We had the most amazing time at Makanyane Lodge in the Black Rhino Reserve within Pilanesberg Park. The lodge itself is a perfect blend of comfort and nature—luxurious but still super connected to the wild surroundings. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch. A huge shoutout to Hannes and Warwick, our guides, who made the whole experience even more special. Their knowledge of the wildlife was incredible, and they really went the extra mile to make sure we saw some unforgettable sights. Thanks to them, we had up-close encounters with animals in the most safe and exciting way. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to truly immerse themselves in nature while still enjoying an incredible stay. We’ll definitely be back!

Positive: The lodge, location and staff were exceptional. Hannes, the manager and our personal wildlife guide, was genius and spotted four of the Big Five in our first 24 hours. Just brilliant.

Positive: We absolutely loved the property, it was way more beautiful than we expected!! We went with 6 kids and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay because they cater for young and old. We loved that it’s still very private and secluded from the other lodges and very complete and comfortable, they had everything we needed for our stay and we didn’t want to leave! Juandre was an absolutely AMAZING guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining, always willing to help wherever he can and we loved that we didn’t need to follow a certain schedule so there was no rushing through anything! Would definitely go back in the future, it’s been one of our favorite holidays so far!!

Negative: Nothing to dislike - loved it all!

Positive: The lodge itself is out of this world. The layout of it means it's can easily accommodate a large group of people but still provides privacy. Each room had an outdoor shower in addition to the indoor one which was amazing! We loved the boma area and spent the evening sat around with a few drinks. The game drives were great. We didn't get to see any cats, but we're fortunate enough to see lots of other animals, including some black rhino and a random hippo on our drive out after check out!

Negative: A beautiful lodge in complete privacy..... What's not to love?

Positive: The location was excellent. The lodge was amazing with every facility imaginable, especially the game drives that were included. Owen our personal guide was extremely knowledgeable about all the plants and animals which made it exciting and very interesting.

Negative: The showers could have a little more privacy. Local shop is very far.
