Positive: Usually hotels in Drass close down in winters. Kasim- the person who runs the place told us this was the first season they had kept the hotel open for visitors during winters. Thank God for us. If not for this hotel, we wouldnt have been able to spend a night in Drass. The room was comfortable. On request and for some charge, they gave us an extra heater. They also gave us multiple blankets and a hot water bottle to keep us warm. In this season, running water isn't available because of extreme cold- but Kasim ensured we had as many buckets as we needed. While the in house restaurant was closed for winters, there was a restaurant/dhaba at 10-15 mins walk which make soulful food for us. We could eat there, or they deliver too. They called it the 'Assamee restaurant'. Drass was comfortable for us- thanks to this hotel. And the hotel oversees a river and the amazing amazing mountains. Lovely location with car park available and they also gave our driver a place to sleep warmly at night. Loved this experience. We spent 31st December night here and rang in the new year in the second coldest inhabited place in the world.
