Positive: Excellent service by Hotel Grand Sigma. A cosy place where we are greeted by warm and welcoming people at the front desk. My double room was quite large, clean and comfortable. The free breakfast boasts an excellent spread of simple but delicious items -- idli, vada, sambar and chutney, upma, tamarind rice, poori and curry, eggs and the customary bread butter jam. The staff was very accommodating: they allowed me to check in a couple of hours earlier upon prior request (though I had to check out a little earlier accordingly, but this was not an issue for me). After checking out, they will store your luggage safely for you, which was a lifesaver for me since I had to check out in the morning but my train was at night. They were also pretty chill about me (and, it seems, some other guests) sitting around in the lobby to charge my phone for a while in the evening, long after I checked out. (These may seem like small things, but recently I've experienced other hotels refusing to give us water or internet before check in or after check out, so their kindness really stands out for me.) They also have a very nice and clean toilet in the lobby which we can use even after checking out. As for the location, I walked there from the Majestic metro station though I wouldn't particularly recommend that if you have a lot of luggage. The hotel was 5-6 minutes' walk from Freedom Park, where I had an event to attend, so it was perfectly located for me. Another day, I walked there quite easily from Cubbon Park as well. There are lots of little restaurants and eateries nearby, of which I particularly recommend Cafe Amudham and MTR for the usual ghee masala dosa and Jagadguru Basaveshwara Restaurant for a lovely North Karnataka style jowar roti thali on banana leaves! All these are just a short walk from the hotel.

Negative: I can't think of anything that I didn't really like. I guess the coffee at breakfast should be a bit stronger or more flavourful.
