The Point House | Historic Home in the Heart of Downtown Beaufort's 'Old Point'

4 Bedroom House in The Point, Beaufort

4 bedroom historic home in the heart of Downtown Beaufort.
This 4 bedroom, 3 bath historic home sits in the heart of Downtown Beaufort's prestigious 'Old Point'. Built in the late 1800's, this house is part of Beaufort's history, and is only 3 short blocks from the Waterfront Park, as well as shopping, art galleries, restaurants and attractions of downtown. If you stay at 608 North Street, you will be in the perfect location to experience the best of Beaufort.
The home has been completely restored with a fully equipped kitchen, limestone tile, heart pine floors, new stainless steel appliances, and impressive antiques from Bali and Indonesia. The large master suite features a king bed, private bathroom with whirlpool tub, and a private sitting area. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a king and single bed. The 3rd upstairs bedroom has two twin beds, and one queen bed. The 4th bedroom downstairs has a king bed. Wireless internet and cable TV are included.
Three large porches provide great spots to admire the beautiful low country scenery and watch the horse drawn carriage rides pass. A short walk is Beaufort's newly renovated Waterfront Park, complete with a playground, which provides the perfect location for an afternoon of enjoyment.
Hunting Island State Park and public boat ramps are all easily accessible, and Charleston, Hilton Head, or Savannah are close enough for day trips.
Staying at 608 North Street will truly be an experience that cannot be matched by a hotel, condo, or any other rental home.
While this home has been completely renovated, if you are someone who is expecting new, flawless construction and prefers a hotel room or suite over a historic property, this is probably not the home for you. This house was built almost 200 years ago, and it does have imperfections that are typical of historic homes in the Beaufort and Charleston areas. We think these imperfections are what makes the home special.

Summary: This home is very cozy!We loved the porches and back yard garden! The location was perfect for getting to the downtown. It worked well for our family and we would stay here again. Would be happy to recommend it to family and friends.

Summary: Had a great stay! It was colder than usual in February and sometimes a couple rooms would be cold but that was the only issue we had. You do have to go through other bedrooms upstairs to get to bathrooms and other bedrooms. The room with a queen bed and 2 twins is at the top of the stairs and you have to walk through it to get to the bathroom and then the room that has a queen bed with one twin. And then there is another bedroom on the other side of upstairs that has a king bed and you have to walk through it to get to another bedroom that has a full bed and the master bath is off the room with the full bed. But we were all good friends so it was fine. But the house has plenty of space.

Summary: fabulous location. Lots of room for the 3 of us. Yard unusable. House needs updating but it is 120 years old! Absolutely fabulous location. Great parking. Well equipped kitchen.

Summary: Beautiful and convenient location to celebrate our son’s Boot Camp graduation with extended family. Tons of charm and character! The outdoor trash bins were full upon our arrival so the lid couldn’t close. We ended up cleaning the mess the raccoons made of the trash ... Small problem for such a wonderful experience.

Summary: I personally felt like I was at my grandparents house. Which was great for me! It is a much older home with lots of character. If, you want new and pristine? It’s not for you. If, you enjoy somewhat rustic and comfortable? It is wonderful. Had a great stay. We were there to see my son graduate from Parris Island. Easy travel to and from the island. Multiple routes. If you like taking long walks. It is perfect!

Summary: Our multigenerational family of seven stayed seven nights at this property and loved it! This 19th century home in the heart of Beaufort's historic district was clean, well-maintained, comfortable and perfectly fit our needs. The home is 3 blocks walking distance from the shops and numerous good restaurants on Beaufort's Bay Street. We loved strolling around the neighborhood and seeing the 300-year old live oaks draped with Spanish moss and the magnificent homes built in the 1700's and 1800's. Beaufort was a perfect base for our day trips to Charleston, Savannah, Hilton Head Island and the beautiful beaches at Hunting Island State Park.

Summary: Perfect location. We could walk to shops and restaurants. The house and furnishings are very attractive, and it has been made as comfortable as possible without a major renovation. Everything we needed was there. A few suggestions: for past vacation rentals I have been given a number I could call before arriving, in case there were any problems. For example: all our designated parking spaces were occupied, and we had to find out who was using them. Also, prior notice of where to find information about the house, appliances, etc., would have been helpful. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and I would rent the house again.

Summary: We loved this house! It was perfect for us. We had plenty of room, the location was amazing, and it felt like home! When we had questions, the owners were quick to respond and take care of our concerns. The back yard was a mood all by itself and we loved sitting out back in the morning with coffee and conversation. Thank you for a great SC experience!

Summary: We booked this home for a 4 day girls trip. The location was perfect for walking to all the activities, architecture, restaurants & shopping that Beaufort has to offer. The home has plenty of space to spread out or come together, accommodating everyone’s routine. The upstairs bedrooms have some odd layouts if privacy is a huge concern but the space is maximized to allow for additional guests. Perhaps a schematic floor plan in the listing would help visitors know what to expect. The home is well kept and preserves the history of the architecture with updated comforts of today’s standards. The owners were quick to respond with questions. We would definitely stay here again. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this quaint town in the heart of it all in this home.
