Positive: I enjoyed my time in Hello India Home Stay because of hospitality of Lavkush and his family. I liked village vibe of the hotel. Children were playing outside and riding bicycle. Cows, sheep and goats are walking on the street. Neighbors are talking to each other. I found this ambiance very charming and cozy. I liked hotel location as I needed some peace and silence after noisy and crowded Varanasi. I asked silence and no people around, Universe heard and sent me here! My room was comfortable and looked the same as in booking.com pictures. But there was NO electric kettle or coffee machine in my room despite booking confirmation listed it. I didn’t see any restaurants around, so I asked Lavkush to provide me with homemade lunch, dinner and tea during my stay. There is a family kitchen which can be used by travelers. One time I had my lunch at the Saffron restaurant opposite to Western Group of Temples in Khajuraho and can recommend that restaurant. What was confusing: Hotel is located incorrectly in booking.com map. When I checked booking.com, it looked like that hotel was at the end of the main street in a walkable distance from the main temples. So I had big plans how I would be running between eastern and western group of temples. But when I was in the hotel and next day opened map on my phone, both eastern and western group of temples were very far, 10 minutes of driving distance, not walkable. Hotel is located at Achanar village just outside of Kajuraho. Well, all temples were easily accessible by tuk tuk for 200 rupees one way. Wi-Fi internet issues: Wi-Fi internet was very weak and slow, that I had a digital detox finally! Internet worked veryyyyyyyyy slowly only when Lavkush was at home as he was sharing mobile internet. Electricity issues: There is no electricity from time to time, but Lavkush has backup generator.

Negative: Ideas to improve this hotel: 1) It is a #1 priority to contact local telecommunication operator, buy router/modem and get stable Internet connection in the hotel. My friends and family thought that I died as I was not in social media and not responding to their messages for one day because of issues with internet connection. 2) As there are only two rooms in the hotel, it would be great to have electric kettle, several cups and tiny refrigerator in each room. In case guests want to have own tea or keep some food in the room. Free complimentary tea bags with sugar and bottle of water in the room – desirable. 3) It would be great to have a clean roof top terrace with table and chairs, so guests could have breakfast, lunch and dinners as there are no restaurants around. Of course, there should be a roof (maybe from colorful fabric/curtains) on the terrace to have a shadow. 4) Again, as there are no restaurants around, it would be great if Lavkush had a menu in English with fixed prices of food and drinks, that his wife could cook and serve. I didn’t know that I could buy drinking water in the hotel as I was buying it every day outside.

Positive: A peaceful place in a quiet side street with a friendly neighbourhood in walking distance to the most of the sights. The green courtyard with its colourful flowers and small pond is a perfect place to relax. Just topped by the beautiful rooftop, where you can also have yoga lessons in the morning. The room was super clean and had a large bathroom. Such a cleanliness I had never experienced before in India. Lavkush was exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. He did his best to make my stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. All food is tasty and prepared freshly. Best place to stay in Khajuraho!
