Positive: The location was pretty good, but not quite in the center of town so required driving or walk to restaurants and activities. The breakfast was good with several options. They also have a bookcase with a number of books in Icelandic and English (and perhaps other languages).
Negative: It was not apparent from the property descriptions that this is college dormitory converted to hotel lodging over the summer months. Really felt like going to back to my college days living in the very spartan dorm. Additionally, there are rooms with good views but we were not given those depsite there being very few guests staying in the hotel. Finally, there was construction being done over the summer and the construction equipment and supplies made it less appealing and obstructed the views from one of our rooms.

Positive: Great location. Pretty quiet. Large continental breakfast with lots of choices. Private bathroom. It's a school during the year and it hosts travelers during the summer....but adults stay here during the summer. .it's not a youth hostel. You get a discount at a restaurant inside a sister property that's a short walk away. Some rooms look at grass and a neighborhood. Some rooms overlook the water.
Negative: There are laundry facilities in the building, but they aren't available for travelers. It would be nice if the managing hotel could get travelers access to the washing machines and dryers. (Laundromats don't exist in Iceland.) The bed was a little uncomfortable compared to others I've slept on in the country....but it wasn't a deal breaker for us.
